We have a domain name:

catscans.info

We had it parked with a 3rd company and displayed google results. We decided to make the domain into a minisite with a few articles using Joomla.

Problem is AdSense is displaying ads that have nothing to do with Catscans.

What are we doing wrong?

Thanks for helping out.,,,

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

First, it take sometime for AdSense to determine what ads to serve. Second, check your web pages's "title", "description", and "keywords" tags to make sure they are all about catscans

We developed 5 sites at the same time, all others are displaying correct ads.

I think title and metatags are correct....

<title>CatScans.info - Home</title>
<meta name="description" content="Various imaging tests such as computed tomography (CT) scans, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans

<meta name="keywords" content="Catscans,Cat Scans,Cat Scanners,MRI, CAT Scanning" />

keywords appear to be okay or cat scan related to me, but the ads don't look good at all, if you just threw this site up recently wait a day or 2 and see if it improves after they scan it, the only time I have found non relevant ads to show with adsense is if there are not enough advertisers paying or bidding on the term or if it is brand new sometimes it takes a day or 2 for them to scan the site and throw the right ads your way.

Another thing that often gets forgot when doing AdsenseSites is
to add the Google Targeting MetaTags
<!-- google_ad_section_start -->

<!-- google_ad_section_end -->
when Bracketed around the relevant Text it helps Google's Context Spider to better determine the Content

BTW When I created these 5 Sites the Google Targeting MetaTags were added

Good General advice about AdsenseSites is at http://www.AdsenseSite.info

We did not create seperate channels in AdSense? are we supposed to?

If you look at:

catscan.info

you will see there are many relevant search results. Most paying I assume since we were getting good $ per click. So we decided to test with catscans.info. We had them both parked together.

I guess will wait it out and see if ads improve. If not we will have to send it back to parking.

thanks....

Not really, they are all about measuring where your revenue is coming from.

I have a site exhibiting similar "peculiarities" at the moment. I suspect it is the small number of suitable advertisers in an extremely small niche market.
The site shows 1/2 "appropriate" ads on the 1st test view of the day. After that the ads shown are "related" to a totally out of context "text ad" on the site. The next day, repeat etc. etc. My next step will be to find another site in the niche in order to do some comparisons. Time will tell I guess!

BFT... I'm not sure how I didn't know about these tags before... it looks like i'll have to go back through a few sites and do some optimizing, lol. Thanks for sharing.

Here's an FAQ I found regarding these tags from the adsense team...

Cheers.

Resolves ok for me.. But as BFT says, this is the commonly used way (which we also use at 1plus.net) to generate appropriate ads. Just hand write this code into your site

<!-- google_ad_section_start --> Catscan, catscans, CT scan <!-- google_ad_section_end -->

And you'll only get appropriate ads.

On a seperate note, you also might like to ad a line of horizontal text ads on your site, these are increasingly being found to be the most successful PPC ads..

And check out this other fool

Badger, we also own catscan.info. We only moved catscans.info to a minisite to check if we did better. If results are better we will also move it to a minisite.

And yes, finally the site seems to be displaying corresponding ads. It took a little longer than expected but finally.

Thanks for all the replies....

Do you have some content in your website?
If you don't have any content, you can't expect adsense to display targetted ads.

Catscan.info

And this would be what??A hacked framed version of your sedo parking page??

If so, they will not be happy.

Badger

catscan.info

No it is not a hacked page of Sedo. We have a parynership with a company that displays Google results.

All our parked domains are with them. We just started testing other options.

if catscan.info is being provided by a commercial organisation they should 1. Sack their programmer immediately (because 8 yr olds are not allowed to work for a start) and 2. Stop framing someone elses parking page because Im 99.9% sure it will be against their TOS...

;)

catscans.info is much more pragmatic - :tu:
