What a tough day!

Jeeeze, welcome, 2008.

I get back into work and get chewed out within minutes by my boss. I have a zillion projects I am working on, but of course that doesn't count, only the ones he thinks are important get mentioned. Now, had I been working on THOSE projects, no doubt he would have complained about the others. Sheeesh, I gotta get outta here. Happy Freakin' New Year!!!!

Bosses forget: it's the "little people" that do the actual work and gain them their bonuses (which I am against: bonuses should be distributed thruout the crew).

Where I work, we're constantly told to work faster, cut back on waste, meet quotas, etc. And it's all so the management can get their bonuses.. a fact I have mentioned many times. Our management actually does very little real work.

Anyways...Supervisors and your bosses do alot of stuff no body sees and alot of stuff you prolly wouldnt be happy doing yourself. Just remember that there is always someone higher than everyone. So basically you may be feeling the pressure but they are as well. Yes i agree that the little man does do alot of work, but you gotta think your boss served his time as the grunt or did some kind of similar action (i.e. college). So in all reality your boss has prolly done more work at this particular type of job than you have. Most importantly though: Stick it to the MAN!

Well, that may be true in some cases.. but where I work, the main duty of the manager is paperwork (shift inventory, counting out the cash drawers, etc).. not to mention, I am one of the few employees (including management) that has never been arrested or served time in jail.

No one wants to be manager because the hours are long (50+ a week), not because the work is hard.

Yes, they are under stress from above.. but again, I see memos all the time regarding quotas and bonuses.. so I know what I'm talking about. They wouldn't make those quotas or bonuses if it weren't for the actual crew.

Happy " Freaking " new year ! I know the feeling ! we have a flu epidemic here in the uk coughs, cold, sickness etc .. despite being more than v v sick myself over the crimbo and new year and believe me I don't do sick ! I was .. ready willing and able and firing on all cylinders ( well almost all but doing a great impression !) this morning ready to hit the new year with a bang this morning to find .. everyone is sick !!! and I do mean everyone ! out of our development team 10/12 sick and the 2/12 ok need info from others ! happy freaking new year ! lol

It's amazing, but as a "boss" I found that if you treat your team with r-e-s-p-e-c-t and as partners instead of employees, productivity and morale are high while turnover and sick time are low. If it's a FUN environment all the better.

Your boss needs a swift kick in the @ss.

Thank you everyone, I feel better today. I worked until 2:30 in the morning last night on projects, and will probably do so again tonight. Even if the boss doesn't notice the progress I make on my projects, I want my desk clean!

I feel your pain, I hate working for somebody. Looking forward to the day that I don't have to work for anybody. That day will come for all of us, hopefully sooner than later.
