If you bought it via Tdname then you should get a free one year extension ;)

Those expired domains most likely are non-performing and did not receive a good PR, and that is the reason the previous owner refuse to renew it.

when you buy on TDNam they MAKE u buy a 1-yr extension, or at least it was that way last time i bought one there.

if the domain expires does it lose its page ranking if not renewed quickly

PR reset after change ownership

Whenever a domain change hands, it's PR gets reset to 0.If I'm not mistaken, I've read this statement from Matt Cutts, Google's Webspam Head, in his blog http://www.mattcutts.com/blog. But here's an info from Webmasterworld http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum30/32330.htm.

But if you get a domain that has a potential, developing it would then regain it's PR...at least if your gain traffic via natural or whitehat SEO.

Good Luck and hope this helps,
Ismael :)

PR's don't mean anything unless a solid content site is included.

I seems that recently Google is resetting the PageRank of domains based on the domain's WhoIs record.

I've noticed that if a domain drops & receives a new creation / expiration date. It's pagerank becomes "0".

I've purchased various PageRank domains & about 2-3 days after catching the drops, the PageRank slips from "3" or "4" to "0".

Also, you may notice services like: DropScout, RegisterCompass & FreshDrop don't display as many PR domains as before. The drop lists now have mixed results for PR, most being fake.

It's a bit confusing also, because there are drop catchers that are catching PR domains from the raw zone files & these do keep their PageRank. It may be low PR, like 2 or 3, but perhaps since these domains aren't publicly displayed as PR domains, may be the reason why they don't lose the PR.
