Yeah, the Wii looks cool. It's innovative, but what good is innovation if all the games suck? Check out these scores from Gamespot:
Excite Truck: 6.4/10
Red Steel: 5.5/10
GT Pro Series: 5.1/10
Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam: 6.0/10
Rampage: Total Destruction: 5.1/10
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz: 8.3/10
Trauma Center: Second Opinion: 8.0/10
Call of Duty 3: 7.2/10
Wii Sports: 7.8/10
Rayman Raving Rabbids: 8.0/10
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess: 8.8/10
Madden 07: 8.4/10

That's 9 out of 12 games that scored an 8.0 or less.

Now let's look at some other systems.

The PS3:
Tony Hawk's Project 8: 7.3
Genji: Days of the Blade: 6.4
Call of Duty 3: 8.2/10
Resistance: Fall of Man: 8.6/10
Madden 07: 7.9/10
Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire: 3.9/10
Ridge Racer 7: 8.0/10

Pretty consistent with the Wii, although the scores are somewhat higher. There's some other games that I didn't list, some with bad scores, others with higher scores.

Now the Xbox 360. I'll compare with launch games, since it wouldn't be fair to compare with games that are out now.
Perfect Dark Zero: 9.0/10
Call of Duty 2: 8.8/10
Condemned: Criminal Origins: 8.0/10
Need for Speed: Most Wanted: 8.4/10
Madden 06: 7.4/10
Kameo: Elements of Power: 8.7/10
Quake 4: 6.6/10

So far the PS3 and Wii are pretty even in terms of scores, while the 360 has the most high scores. Remember, though: these reviews are just what the reviewer thought of the game. You may enjoy them more or less.

Alright, you've seen the reviews, now decide which console you want ;)

A great post :) May help a few people decide what console to get. As for me, I'll be getting an Xbox 360.

Being as I would only buy games with a 8+ rating it doesn't matter the quantity of games under that score. I will be getting a wii for my kids and skipping a PS3 and 360. My kids have all the Nintendo systems and they love the N games..that's all that matters.

I don't think it really matters, Zelda is the launch title...the others are just there, wii sports only got a low rating because of the type of game, it's just designed as a pre-packaged game to show off the controller basically.

I still think that the PS3 and Wii are much better then the 360 design wise and creativity wise... more capabilites with both

theres no way that the wii is better designed then the xbox 360, its a small ugly piece of crap. can you imagine playing a game like Metal of Honor on wii and having someone walk in on u jumping up and down of swinging your arms, I still cant wait to get my PS3, wii is something I will never get just like the gamecube

Even when the xbox came out, I still thought xbox was better than gamecube or ps2.

Xbox won the original console war, the only thing it lacked in was the date it was launched, if it was closer to the ps2 launch it would have dominated even more heavily. The games were bigger, the gameplay was better, and the system performed better.

I cannot comment on PS3 or Wii as they are not out yet and no magazines have recorded any game review scores for them. I have a 360, and from any demo's the 360 looks set to be better than the Wii, and the same experience as the ps3.

I simply don't believe in paying $400-$500 for a gaming console. If I get one, it will definitely be the Wii otherwise I will wait until they come down.

Around $575 up here.
I think it's absurd to pay this kind of money for a game system and then anywhere from $40-$80 per game afterward.

I think people really need to re-evaluate priorties when they spend this kind on money on a video game.

I'll be buying the 360 when halo 3 comes out. I like the 360 of all the 3 because of the xbox live.

I don't understand gamers on this thread talking about Xbox Live. Do you realize you have a PC for online gaming? You are better off getting a $300 graphic card than a Xbox 360. Consoles VS PC gaming is a joke...$500 consoles can never compete with $2k PCs. Resolution, speed, and online group play have been WELL in advance for the PC market. It normally takes 2-3 years for consoles to catch up to what PC gamers are doing.

Ever tried Xbox Live? It's actually much more enjoyable than PC online gaming from my experiences. Talking with other gamers instead of typing is a key part of the online experience. I realize a lot of PC games do use headsets, but a majority of gamers still just type on the PC.

And since when have games just been about graphics? Some games may look nice, but it doesn't matter if the game sucks.

And 2-3 years for console games to catch up to PC? Well, it's been 2 years since Halo 2 came out for the Xbox, and it isn't on the PC yet. Let me know when you can play Halo 3 on your computer too. Where is Gears of War for the PC?

Pretty much every game you can get on the PC you can get on a console, specifically Xbox/Xbox 360. And there's also some games that you can only get on consoles, or at least come out way earlier on the consoles.

If you play games just to stare at how good they look, the PC may be for you. If you play games for the actually gameplay and online fun, consoles (or at least PS3/360 with their online play) are for you.
