I dont like that one. It seems like people are regging names just to reg. something. I have a few on my list that are decent and have high ovts (10000 or better) and I am in no hurry to get those. Good luck.

The only thing that I can see ... to overcome this $0.00 - Reg. fee epidemic, IMHO, IS developing these raw, newly hand-registered domains with unique and compelling content - and creating and then building the all-important "ecosystem" (with LOTS of support from the folks at mTLD, as well)! :blink: :talk:

PPS. I also think the initial, as much delayed, RFP's will be critical ... so stay tuned! :gl:

Sorry, but some of these names being presented in here lately as new reg's are getting a little rediculous. There's some good ones still out there, why spend good money on this?

The approach I've been using lately for names that I wish to resell for profit at some point...

If I wouldn't pay 1,000USD for a dotcom version, I won't pay $10 (reg fee) for the dotmobi.

I agree but currently there doesn't seem to be good monetization even from development. If you search the developed sites for sale for mobi you get almost no results and zero sales. Only a small handful of mobi developers here have admitted to making any money and that income was rather miniscule.

So even if developed...it's likely this domain would still be worthless.

Generally, I don't disagree with you Jesse ... there are, as always, exceptions of course ... but, IMHO, a LOT!! has to do with what specific SUPPORT comes from mTLD in this quest to both develop -and- secure the acceptance and adoption of the .MOBI in a larger sense! There are lots of questions ... but in my post above, I kind of gave them the benefit of the doubt that this support and promotion might one day exist! That may have been a big mistake on my part ... as without these questions being addressed, the support may not be there, and .MOBI domains - including developed ones, and you're right - likely won't be worth piddly long-term, in my best judgement. :gl:

Traffic can be monetized. Plain and simple. If you can manage to get 10,000 visitors a day to WannaPlay.mobi then you can monetize it with advertising. How to get 10,000 uniques to WannaPlay each day is a different issue. That would require Jeff's previously stated unique and compelling content. But without it, I'd say this name is worthless.

How to get 10,000 uniques to WannaPlay each day is a different issue. That would require Jeff's previously stated unique and compelling content. But without it, I'd say this name is worthless.

The problem with trying to get that much traffic is that's it's most likely gonna be very costly. The ROI imho is going to be zilch if this domain is developed. He would need to have a top 3 gaming domain for mobile phones for this domain to work. Odds this will happen 10,000-1 imho. One of the best mobi sites so far is dir.mobi which is making $13 a day. He would need to spend much more than that to gain players at wannaplay.mobi via adsense or other paid advertising. I know for a fact that gaming doesn't pay well for advertising. So theoretically his traffic won't be worth all that much. While I agree that eventually a gaming mobi site will do well. I just don't see a small player doing it with wannaplay.com. Is it possible yes...likely? No.

I wish him luck but I would drop the name if he still can.

My only comment is that you have PlayaGame.Mobi in your signature...Thus, why would you need 2 brandable names regarding pretty much the same thing?r...I agree with the above that it would be difficult to resell it for profit...Thus for development, since it's only a brandable one, I would not register many names but just pick the one you lke the most. Cheers...
