ok i need sum help I dont know what I should do(hosting wise)
I have about 175+ domains
and about 50-80 sites online atm
I have about 10 different hosting accounts

2 master reseller whm accounts ( i dont resell hosting)

1 reseller account whm

a godaddy deluxe account (my 1st host)honestly have been pretty happy other than missing lots of features i need & want!to many restrictions!

3 other cpanel accounts with random host

and a few other smaller host etc!

Im pretty sure I have the resources to host all my sites on one or 2 of my bigger accounts
but I don't like to have all my eggs in one basket if you know what i mean!
for seo and incase one has problems all my sites wont be down!

most of my sites don't use much of the systems resources at the moment but i do still have 1 or 2 hogs! but lots of my sites just got back online:(

i have a lot of image hosting and file hosting sites and will be building more!
but iv been on a uphill battle with my previous host and a few of my current cpanel host!
its like as soon as i get a site up and ready to promote i run in to hosting issues! :(
from things like a whole account getting deleted due to the support miss under stood and deleted my whole account lost a good bit of my active sites and only had older back ups for a few! wtf?
and I had one of my bigger sites on a shared cpanel account
and i just got kicked off for using to many resources yesterday
he sent me a log said i used 26.03% 1041.2
and at the moment id say thats the biggest hog tho i don't know if it got hacked i dont have access!
i checked the bw usage on 4 of my whm's with about 10 sites on each whm and only one is using slightly more than 5 gb of bandwidth per month! most way less!

Im sick of unreliable host deleting my accounts or going down often or when i need to work on them! :(
my only reliable/stable accounts are my godaddy account and my master reseller accounts are pretty stable and maybe 1 or 2 of my cpanel accounts but not good enuf for me i got lots of work to do i dont need to redo work i have already done i will never get anywhere!

so im looking for a good solution!
i dont want to drop my good servers/host
but i need to upgrade and im kinda poor! :(

dont know if i need a vps or just a less restricted more reliable reseller / whm account etc.
What would you all recommended ?

what im thinking might be a smart choice is to get a vps for my main sites and start using my master reseller account to resell to recoup some of my money!

what would you all recommend
what is a good provider with good support?
i dont know much about hosting so i dont know if i can handle a unmanaged vps account ect?
tho I dont know what kind of added work is involved etc!
and thats the reason i dont resell! dont know enuf about this end!

So Please Post Your Suggestions!

I believe VPS would be a nice soultion for you. I think, having so many sites makes problems with management so It is quite resonable to get a VPS. maybe also a dedicated server would meet all you requirements, but if you are telling that there are not much resources used, I still can suggets a VPS.

Quality company to suggest? Look up ServerPoint.com - they are very longstanding and reliable with good support and quality service. They provide both VPS and dedicated, have features for eCommerce and forums-related hosting. I believe that company would make an interest for you.

If I were you I'd leave Godaddy and go for the dedicated server with all stuff you have. But if you in love with godaddy - nothing can be done here. I woulsd recommend give a try reseller web hosting accounts first and then decide on the VPS or not.
Try gazzin.com, megrihost.com or glowhost.com - they have as reseller account as well as VPS accounts available. So I think that is very comfortable because that allow you to move from one to another easily.

You'll need a huge VPS for 50+ sites. I'd say you're ready for a dedicated box. Plus dedicated is easier to manage than a VPS.

novelty, thanks for recommending us. But I think that OP better concentrate on finding good dedicated server deal.

op needs a good dedicated server to host all his/her sites since it's bandwidth hog, you get what you pay for usually if you look for cheaper alternatives, yeah, growing pains.

Thanks

a dedicated is not really a option for me at the moment! i cant afford $100++ pm
and like i said I dont want to host all my sites on one server!
i still want to keep some of my other host!

also how is dedicated easier to manage?

i think i only need a vps at the moment!

any more input?

I'd have to disagree on that point. It depends on the activity of those sites. If you have 50 sites doing nothing but sitting there, then a small VPS would do fine. I especially think you would be fine if you go with a good provider that doesn't overload the node.

What I would do, is sign up for a small VPS at a provider that has a good upgrade path, and I would just grow as your needs and budget grows.

Well honestly, I don't know of who you should check out. I don't have any experience with any of them. What's your budget? I re-read your original post, and I didn't see it.

VPS limitations are obvious, but mainly because there's no VE software to worry about (Virtuozzo, Xen, VMware, etc.), which accounts for a good portion of overhead. Like anything else, memory will be your main concern on a daily basis. So a VPS needs to be tweaked more aggressively for top efficiency. On the flip side, a crafty VPS setup may perform better than a dedicated server.

I can't afford dedicated either nor do I need it. But if I had 50+ paying customers I could justify a dedicated server (we owe it to the customer, for one thing). After trying different VPS types with various providers over the past few years, I would be comfortable managing a dedicated server because I think it would be less work, not more. There's simply more straw for the milkshake to pass through (less sucking).

You're right. If load is small a VPS will be fine. It is for me. But I don't use it for hosting other people's sites. Experience has shown that it takes just one customer with a spam problem to consume every last byte of RAM.

...sign up for a small VPS at a provider that has a good upgrade path...
Good, common sense advise. Start only with what you need.

Take a look at VPSlink. I've never used them but they have many ways to run a VPS. They offer Xen and VMware and possibly OpenVZ on several Linux distros. For the price, JaguarPC is a popular Virtuozzo VPS provider who offers many control panels (or none). If you're a Linux nerd who is completely hands-on look into Slicehost and Linode.

Outline your plan: 1) Decide how much memory is needed and set a budget; 2) decide if you need Windows or Linux; 3) decide which virtualization environment is best for you; 4) decide if you need a control panel and which one; 5) decide if you need "managed" or "unmanaged".

For a CP that's fast and efficient I like DirectAdmin for VPS hosting. With cPanel providers ask if they offer cPanel's new VPS version (some only offer the full-blown cPanel which is a hog on a VPS). There's an interesting CP environment called LXAdmin that has an extremely low footprint because of the type of daemons used (lighthttpd, tinydns, pureftpd...).

And have fun.

The VPS or even dedicated server might become a solution for you.

Reasonable deals for those could be found at Globaltap.com, which is rather good company, relatively such hosting services.

However the reselling account wioth unlimited domains, may also suit you well - here I can recommend you MMhosting.com - cheap and reliable. I even have got a coupon code for 20% discount of MMhosting.com: Summer08.

Hope that helps...

Good luck
