Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

Feel free to showcase your VR domains If you like...

Cheers

Many big youtubers like: PewDiePie, Markiplier, JackSepticEye, each with 10m+ subscribers are now publishing gameplays of VR games every week, YouTube will definetly have a huge role in bringing VR to masses.

Do you guys think it's time to start pitching? Or would it be better to wait till 2017 when things things are riper? I think this is the year when VR is getting started, but next year is going to be the year when companies will be making huge strides and the public response will be enormous. Especially after the release of PSVR and DayDream.

Did a search for "Daydream" on NP and found your post. Hope you don't mind me posting here.

Did this search after watching Jason Borne today because there was the mention of a CEO of a company named DEEP DREAM lol! but anyways it got me thinking of Daydream and I was surprised that these were available so got them for the heck of it.

IOTDayDream.com
DayDreamIOT.com
and for good measure
IOEDayDream.com
DayDreamIOE.com

and..

WorldDaydream.com
DaydreamYou.com
VacationDaydream.com
OnlineDaydream.com
DaydreamInternet.com
DayDreamU.com
BestDayDream.com
TopDayDream.com
S*xDayDream.com

I only choose keywords with high ticket sales like World and You and Online and Internet and Best and Top.
so what do you think? No Good? There's not much historical sales for the keyword "DayDream" but I think that will change over time as DayDream roles out.

Plus Daydream is such a generic word some of these domains can apply to any business model.

FYI? These domains are taken. (not by me)

BuyDaydream.com
ShopDayDream.com
GetDayDream.com
DayDreamMovie.com
DaydreamVideo.com

plus "other niches" that cannot be mentioned here.

I sure hope this is not one of those TM issue keywords.

Thoughts? Opinions welcome.

oh just want to add also. Since Virtual Reality is "dumbed down" for the lazy people into VR. Will DayDream by dumbed down to DD?

lol

watch everyone race to everything DD now. Ready!? Set?! GO!!!!

lol

Wow that's awesome.
Some great VR names over on NameJet.

too bad NJ is uber picky with the domains they choose. either that or you literally have to be buddy buddy with a CEO or VP over there. have sent tons of domains there. most short 5L's with not even a "No Thanks".

Or maybe VRopticals :), I ended up keeping it for another year.

InternetCafeVR

nice one! I see people here are now going beyong just the typical One Keyword + VR combo.

Is this a Good smart advisable trend by the opinion of the guru's on here? or is it something not advisable?

Looking forward to some responses as it surely would be helpful to ALL. Thanks.

But the bigger question was "what VR keywords to fit that niche ?"
I spoke of this last year when some CO was announcing they were going to do it but can't remember who it was, could be the same folks.
I thought it would eventually be huge as 2D games have been enjoying the same huge favor.
You might look back as there were suggestions but I don't remember what they were and did not play it.
I'm sure it will be a "THING"
and advertisers have lined up in the past for the 2d variety as the viewership soars on these.
Follow the money !

I've been buying 3 word VR names for more than 3 years.
If more words better describes a 'exact thing' where shorter word length takes away from it, they are good words no matter how many. Most one word noun or adjective +VR have been taken.
Example... VRCAMS is great and if you are selling VR security cams, you could use it, but then it is more likely that you will use VRsecurityCams. But for the seller, it is a narrower niche and less competition and hence a lower value since someone else may sell VRsportsCams and has a use for VRcams but vrsecuritycams will not do for him.
So a mix of one noun and one adjective is good for 3 word names. Play it by ear but think it though that there is going to be a NEED for it.

My first thought was Your Weird -- nothing personal mind you. :xf.wink::xf.grin: It was just what immediately came to mind when I saw that combination.:xf.confused:

I came across a good Two Word + VR.com but then like in your scenario one of the TWO WORDS as with your Cams example kinda encompass thee entire "gist" of the entire domain (if I had registered it.) but after some negative comments from some here on some domain "mentions" on here I chose to not register. Although it was very tempting. but after checking Namebio for any sales for that two word combo. there were none. plus the two word combo in King was just sitting undeveloped. not a good sign right?

or perhaps thee owner of that two word combo .com wants some ridiculous amount for it. which is a definite possibility given the two word combo. lol

anyways thanks. anyone with input please feel free. Thanks.

Over 1000 pages. Let's say on average 10 domains are showcased per page. That's 10,000 domains at $8 each for .com and more for junk extensions, assuming all showcased domains are hand regged...

My guess is that over $100k has been spent on showcased domains in this thread, easily. My next guess is that most of the invested funds will be lost.

So much junk here I can't even believe it. Be careful and spend your money wisely, even if it's only an $8 reg!!!

This is one of the main reasons I will not talk to anyone direct for sales under 1500.
They are listed at a DLS and if they are serious, they can go there and make it official.
At least they have some skin in the game for personal reputation. The fees are worth it.
Besides, most of the time it is some other investor who wants to tell me that it is not worth what I want when they intend to sell it for more. Always cheap talk I don't care to partake in.

right on!

why domainers sell out quality domains that have much higher potential in time to be worth a heck of a lot more is beyond me!

people say any profit is good but when u sell domains for so cheap it sets a president meaning other domains are expected to be just as cheap!

if everyone on here multiplied their domain values by x amount it carries across thre board and sends a message to buyers that domains are not being given away

alas too many wankers who have no concern of the industry as a whole and r so self centered they dont care or give a damn

Well, I'm not knocking anyone down that sells below what I think it is valued at. We all have our own time tables and bills to pay. Been there myself from time to time. Sometimes one of those offers can make the difference in buying a name that has a short opportunity window for the guy with cash and willing to take a little less for some to get a better one I have watched for a while is worth it.

Not every sale needs to be a major home run. Sometimes you take the money and run, and sometimes I dig your feet in for a tough negotiation.

Anyone that thinks otherwise is just living in a domain dream world.

I did sell a months old VR handreg for $3400, I think that I'm able to make my own decisions like a big boy. :-P

Don't you think 600 is a bit low for that name?

Yes, I had my but I had my eye on another name so I was willing to get liquid with some DN's to secure others. That time has passed now, so if anyone did inquire it wouldn't be close to that.

Agreed.

I've spent a lot of money on quite a few questionable domains that I will be dropping over the next several months. It's not that I don't think they will sell, it's just that I have way too many. My aim is to shrink my portfolio at least 25%-40%.

Where as I have sold a few domains here and there, I haven't been fortunate enough to receive a juicy sale to really go some way to cover some costs. I do expect it to happen though as VR gains more and more momentum.

I added up the highest offer I've received for each domain since July 2015 and it works out to $145K.

If offers are any indication to go by, I should be okay in the end, hopefully.
