Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

Feel free to showcase your VR domains If you like...

Cheers

The reasoning is they felt it wasn't beneficial to them.

I gather that from his post. Thanks. Do you know any more than that?

I guess because he/she doesn't like that people post notable VR names here. I kind of agree with him/her if that was the reason, to some extent. But then again, I would rather have a fellow investor pick up those names than an end user.

An investor picking up a name is more beneficial to us in general.

I rather have end users take the names to grow the market. The faster its grows, the better it is for all of us.

Obviously I'm not knocking my fellow investors taking domains, I'm just being realistic. I want everyone here to make money but lets be honest if two people here want the same name, they are each other's competition.

I would rather have an end user pick up MY names than an investor :D. The way I see it, the more names are in the hands of investors, the more control we have on the pricing. I only started 6 months ago, so my logic is likely wrong.

How can you equate the grossing of a film with domain valuation?
I'm not. My point was that there is money in entertainment. VR is entertainment and Jesus is perhaps the most famous person on earth. Can you really not see that who ever wants to make a VR expeience about Jesus probaly has a greater potential to monetize that compared to the local church who wants a jesus domain?

They bought whatever name they needed for the film way before you knew it was going to be released. I see no other connection.
Yes? Isn't that why we are investing in domains? So people we think will need them will buy them?

A lot of folks have a interest on what is on MARS but I don't see that translating into domain sales in any big way. There certainly is a lot of reading on the subject though. Especially news at nasa. And while nasa is working on building vr imagery from the rover, I can't see that translating into any great domain sales either.
What is your point? I can think of a gazzilion things that will not make any money from VR. That doesn't mean that JesusChristVR is a bad domain.

Interest is a factor, and where do you measure that interest if not sales dollars in names/keywords?
It also tells you how much baseline money there is to buy said names.
I just gave you an example of a movie about Jesus that made $600 million dollars. Also there is a couple of billion christians. How about using that too? Can't you see that the price a local church in Whatevertown will pay might be less than what somebody who is making an entertainment product for billions of people would pay?

I said, based on the previous sales in keyword of jesuschrist, there was little money or competition for the words. Adding new keywords (VR) to them helps little if any to change it's marketability or value from those keyword sales .

If I am selling app about Jesus Christ I will call that the Jesus Christ app
If I am selling a car model that is named after Jesus Christ I will call it the Jesus Christ car
And if I have a VR experience about Jesus I will call it JesusChristVR or something that has VR in it.
Maybe you would do it differently?

You are letting you imagination take charge of your greed.

Maybe. Might also be your autism not letting you see that reality isn't always a straight line on a chart.

No one has perfect logic. Everyone can be right or wrong depending on the person's interpretation.

However there is a crazy amount of VR names available for end users right now, I don't think there would be enough of us to band together to affect prices in that way.

Although every domain is unique and I for one, will be selling some domains at higher price points in the future.

Seems like a bit of a discussion lately on posting expired/dropping domains.. Personally, I think it's lame to post them. For those who do, I bet there is a good chance that if it's a name that you intend to bid on, you won't post it before hand, after all, why would you? But, if you don't want it, you feel it's okay to post it... That doesn't make sense to me.

Now, I've always lived by treating others as I would like to be treated.. Same kind of thing goes for domain drops in my opinion. Just because I don't want a domain, doesn't mean someone else doesn't and by posting that it's dropping, it just attracts more attention to the domain. Not a lot of domains drop without people knowing, but it happens and well, like I said, I just think it's better not to say anything about it until after it's dropped or has made it's way into a private auction.

That's all I'll say on that.. ;)

Thanks,
You made my point with your reply for the benefit of others.

While not in agreement, thanks for mooting.
