Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

I think your domain is fine too.

IMO VR is a nice shortcut and shortcuts are fitting better on the beginning or end of a word combination, but that's only my personal taste. I can imagine, that VR will getting a very popular shortcut within the next years. In that case, our domains will definitifly increase their value.

Virtual has the advantage, that it's more abstract and could also fit for augmented reality applications. But there is also an disadvantage: for SEO VR should be better, because more people will use "VR" as a search word as the full word "VIRTUAL reality".

IMO:

I agree that there are no rules. Since it's still early, we can define it as we wish. Both forms are coexisting and, should continue to do so. Placement of the VR or Keyword can change the meaning entirely. So, it's hard to say that any one way is the "right way". From my understanding though, this is how it works:

In Keyword+VR, Keyword = Subject/Brand

In VR+Keyword, Keyword = Predicate/Product

I'm also noticing that VR+Keyword is broad and Keyword+VR is more specific.

So, you would play "VR Racing" games but, your favourite game might be "Racing VR".

Still, nothing is written in stone. I've seen them used interchangeably.

Not discussed set... VR in the beginning has an interesting marketing effect if the keyword fits well to "weare".
