Virtual Reality Domains (VR)

Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

isn't the VIRTUAL keyword still better and more vlauable than VR?

its rare to find old VR domains in archives.. but easy to find VIRTUAL kywrd ones.

plus I checked some prices of sold items.. not many VR... and many virtual.

any thoughts?

and while we're at it.. people who were registering VIRTUAL+keyword years back, were they thinking virtual reality.. or more like virtual internet space.. or cybrsspace..

The way I see it is and I kind of touched upon this before.

There has been hell of a lot of marketing in the last 30 years for VIRTUAL.
Every company that has VIRTUAL in its name has also been indirectly promoting the theme VIRTUAL.
VIRTUAL can mean VR or VIRTUAL can also refer to anything on the internet that is digital.
VIRTUAL is 7 characters long.
Most good VIRTUAL names have been taken years ago.


There has been very little marketing by companies so therefore VR doesn't resonate with many people yet.
All we need is a few companies to promote their VR+Keyword products and they will be indirectly marketing the VR theme.
VR means VR.
VR is 2 characters and generally speaking, shorter is usually better for domain names.
VR names still exist because its a new theme based new (re-invented) technology.

I think in some instances VIRTUAL might be better than VR and in others, VR might be better than VIRTUAL but when it comes down to it, I think the branding and marketing of each company will play the most important part as to what people remember.

I say this because I've seen on this forum registrations absurd VR, if a domain is always worth what a buyer is willing to pay for it, I am not the god of the domains, but you have to manage the budget with 80% of brain and 20% of heart (intuition and creativity).

examples: RIVER-VR.com or RIVERVR.com who are on the lists of SEDO and VRRIVER.com that has not taken off.

well there is about 7 billion definitions of absourd in this world.. so let's just call it an opinion and move on.
