Virtual Reality Domains (VR)

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

Feel free to showcase your VR domains If you like...

Cheers

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I've been seeing increased activity on my 4C VR .com's - mostly from China. Nothing in terms of an offer though... ;/.

Last night someone outbid $700+ per VRNetwork.com in NJ auction, no very high reserve price was reached ($25001).

I personally think it is too early for such auctions with these reserve prices as exorbitant.

As @LucidDomains says, there are still 3 or 5 years for the market is mature and these prices are paid.

Congrats on the sales.

MintVR is an incredible brand, easy $15K for the new owner.

Thanks. So often it seems that you can sell domain for $XX,XXX, but sometimes sell for $XXX)
P.S. Purchase price was $4.18, so I think it's good deal)

No doubt, you made your profit and left some for the next guy or perhaps it was an end user. You made great ROI, nevertheless.

The VR market hasn't started, and where I know it's tempting to sell shovels in the gold rush and make decent money that way, my plan is to find the actual gold and buckets of it.

Of course you've been doing this for longer than I have, so we'll see who's game plan is better in the long term.

Congrats again, thanks for sharing the sales!

Agreed. For example "XXX" is searched 180,000,000 times a month - its likely the most or second most searched term in that industry. Don't be surprised if XXXVR dot com sells for high $xxx, xxx someday. But I think he sold it for only $10k....likely to a domainer, because it sold again for $15k soon after.

But yeah, I do understand that we have to sometimes make sacrifices to keep the business afloat sometimes. Renewals are one of the biggest hurdles of this industry....

Question for my fellow Domainers: I own VRCameraRig dot com and I'm trying to decide on whether or not now is a good time to sell. Because of the rise of VR cameras, do you think it's possible that after 2 to 4 years VR camera rigs will become obsolete? I haven't pitched the domain yet and wonder if I could be missing an opportunity....

It's not a strong domain name. Both CameraRig(.)com and CameraRigs(.)com are not developed which is never a good sign. In fact I think you'll have difficulty selling it at all whether it be now or in 2-4 years. My opinion would be try and sell it to the usual targets, perhaps use the 'extra traffic' angle and then drop the name at expiry.

It's just my opinion and I could be totally wrong. Good luck with it.

Thanks for your perspective. I agree to an extent. I did notice that CameraRig/s dot com are still for sale, but I've also considered that VR provides a particular opportunity that didn't exist in the conventional camera rig industry, because most consumers did not needed a "rig" until VR came out. Many of companies manufacturing VR Rigs weren\t in business before VR and most only provide rigs for VR, so I think the prospect for a sale is a bit more positive than your assessment.

My concern is more about the future of VR Rigs with the rise of the VR Camera. @VRdommy you've invested in VR camera related names. What's your take on this?

I know the person who owned VRNetwork also owned GoVR, so GoVR sold for $25001 but VRNetwork went unsold?

I think it's his English. I think he implied that the reserve price was not met.

Unless I'm mistaken, can anyone confirm?

Does anyone know if PS will allow it headset to be used online with browser? I ask because that will be more people on WebVR without the need to purchase a mobile VR headset.
