Virtual Reality Domains (VR)

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

Feel free to showcase your VR domains If you like...

Cheers

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Well, I hope not as I did park it at sedo and is responding. The singular has been gone for a while and I put the plural on my list since the last time (dec). Probably the reg you check it in has low updating times.

Yea, I seen some of the announcements here and thought some of you were getting a little to close for my comfort. I do have a long short-list but going to drop many names off it. Clean up time.

I suggest many of you create such a list because sometimes a name sounds pretty good today but after even a month after, it does not always seem so good. Can save you a few bucks. You don't know how many times I have said "WHAT WAS I THINKING" -or not ;)
Nobody offers refunds after 3 days that I know of for any reason.
It's funny though the names that i think won't sell after some thought do sell and vise versa. Maybe it's just a coincidence.

As I have said, it will be VR Media and Social aspects of how that is used.

That's why i love VrEdTech. Two ventures merged into one common goal.

As long as price has not entered the equation, we all think we have considered all there is to consider on a name but are all normally narrow minded. It's a human thing ;) Just learn from the experience by asking why? for everything.

The reason some may surprise you is that they may be alternatives for a name space well in demand and not affordable for a small guy..

Wow what a great site!! Where did you get all the logos made?

Nice job!
Think so:)
Started on it during the week and kinda finished adding my domains today. All done on my iPhone.

Still some stuff to do with it. But I can't do it on my phone, I'll have to wait till I get a computer in a few weeks to add a proper BrokersInDomains logo on the top, I think I'm missing something but not sure yet but it will come to me.!

The logos were easy, I used an App:)
I could have used fiver but I'd be broke, the app had free logos to use at my disposal.

Any thoughts on the Vr Domains?

Don't forget to sign up for the blog where I'll promote "Top 5 Domains" of the week of followers Domains linked to their sales page:)

Looking back at some sales history, i happen to notice a sale in 2010 for the name 3D360.com for 5k.

Now that is some insight for 2010. Must have been one of those developing the tech. A smart buy either way. Site is in private use now. 360 cams were around in the 90's but not in 3D. It was reg'd in 2004.

Anyone have more/better details on who has/uses the name?

I'v held 3d360cams since mid 2013 , VR360cams for 9 months and was surprised they were available then.

Yeah it seems as though somebody had inside knowledge of this technology. I wonder if they signed agreements/contracts that prohibit this type of action.

Well, it does make me feel that I hold 2 of the top 5 "in that segment".
(patting myself on the back ha ha)

But I would like to know more about 3d360.com
May have to wait till the use it publicly. But you have to know it is media related.
It seems all the older domain news sources have taken "search" off their sites.

I found it was indeed a private sale.

Hah, yeah i know... That's the only one I have, though... And you gotta have one...

It really depends on the keyword(s). If you think there will be both demand and competition for them, it has good value.

Sure. I just think that the 'VR' is unnecessary in the first place in these names. Something like VRart/movies/forum/blog etc. of course makes sense but it's like BWphotos/movies/forum etc. ... VR stuff will be named with prefixes like "magic" and so forth IMO.

Yea, I have always encouraged folks to think things through a bit.
As"Chat" and "Chatrooms" is still a best contender over VRchatrooms (i hold)
And the demand for the new name space will be high so there can only be one BEST and a new need for a sub-catagory to more explicitly speak of use/type. You just want the best sub-catagory(s).
The best of the least. :)

Yeah the owners of chat and chatrooms im sure are not going to be selling them and if they did they certainly couldn't afford that and thier startup cost so vrchat and vrchatrooms would be the next logical domain for thier needs. It also states a destination/medium for thier content.

YES, many of them will end up being a waste of money. That's a reality with any highly speculative investment.

Everyone has their own level of comfort with risk. Some people believe in investing in precious metals, some in financial instruments, and some in... Well, you get the idea. My money says you've probably spent money on plenty of domains that didn't return what you wanted and have probably dropped a few.

If one's knowledge of a topic is sufficient, they've done their due diligence correctly, have a viable time frame to make a return, a plan to reach your target audience (whether selling or develop) and enough capital to fund the venture, then one can minimize the number of mistakes (bad purchases) and maximizes the return on those that do pan out.

One of the benefits of using VR/Virtual/etc attached to a domain at the present time is that it provides end users one additional avenue to getting a "generic" domain that will be highly relevant as this new technology takes hold.

Yes, some will search for "Gaming Gloves" or just type in "GamingGloves.com" when putting together their VR system. But initially a lot of people will be searching for "VR Gaming Gloves" or type in "VRGamingGloves.com" in their effort to purchase this new tech. So now site owners have significantly more keyword rich domain options for promoting their products/services and acquiring traffic.

(Hope this post is coherent. I was doing it on the fly and haven't the time to proff it as I've got to get out the door for a bit.)

It's coherent and I agree.
But I have watch many a overpurchase of a namespace and if they are lucky enough to get a hit in 3 years, they likely will have lost it in reg fees.
(my famous quote)
"Take your time and shoot with a rifle not a shotgun.
Get closer to your target if you need to.
You do have a target don't you ?"
Kinda puts it in perspective ;)
