Virtual Reality Domains (VR)

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

Feel free to showcase your VR domains If you like...

Cheers

Picked up VRRules.com on an auction here a while back. I think it's a nice brandable for the niche.

VirtualRealitySelfie - VirtualRealitySelfies - VirtualSelfies - SelfiesVR .coms

I just took a selfie in virtual reality!
Update: Now that I'm off stage, I can explain. I took this family selfie while doing a live demo in front of 100,000 people. That's me in VR, Priscilla video called in with Messenger, and Beast was just hanging out with his ball in front of a camera at our home. We were all in there together!

quick question to all the Pro VR people on here. (you know who you are)

How hard would it be to create a site that provided VR content? and what would be basic UNIQUE issues of creating and owning and running such a site? First thing I can think of is bandwidth and server space.

and how hard would it be to allow all the different VR headsets to access your content? would there be compatibility issues in accessing your content?

and how would one monetize such a website? Charge a flat fee or the usual Adsense stuff? and will the ads need to be VR ads?

Are there already websites providing this type of service?

You are only offering links to existing experiences/apps via itunes or google play affiliation (most likely) it would be up to the buyer to determine if it is suitable for their hardware, some things are beyond your control

You are correct on the bandwidth issues of sending video. Other things are dependent on the type of experience you are trying to deliver (method). Anything that required server side apps would be more intense while downloaded applets run on the users machine. The latter is what you are seeing in WebVR.

A VR type of TRANSCODER (not the right word to use but best way to understand it) is what Microsoft has been working on to allow multiHMD support from the same code in Win10. But even that will need some set of standards/limits we have not seen so you are pretty much deving each on their own for now.
It does hinder development without some sets of standards.

The setting of standards never comes unless the players have something to gain and something to loose if not cooperating. Same thing played out with CD-RW & DVD-RW for 2 well known examples.

So there would never be a "YouTube" but for VR ever? is that what WebVR is? I can imagine it's possible.

People upload content on Youtube all the time and they earn a living from the ads generated from the views.

VR/360 Video is not computer code. It's just a specially formated video when combined with tracking info from the hmd, changes the portion of the display that you view. Totally dependent on 'LOCAL CODE' for displaying it.
It's that which requires the processor to handle instructions to change what you see that changes everything for a online experience. Methods are hardware critical/dependent for now.

You can't expect what runs on a i7 PC to run on a mobile phone just as you may not be able to run all PS4Pro games on a PS4

@Avtar629 @DT13

My advice is to stay away from DayDream names relating to VR, its a trademark

It doesnt look like Google though, interesting that the trademark was only filed in June 2016

daydreamvr.com

Regged: VRBODYSCAN dot com...

I'm thinking this might be a thing for social VR in the future. Instead of seeing each others crummy avatars you could see a true representation of your counter part. So I guess people will have to get their asses scanned some how for that.

yea I suspected as much. although when I did reg those I did check historical sales for Daydream. as a result I proceeded to reg.

The word daydream has been around way before Google was even Google I think? ehh. just like Pokemon Go domains. thanks for confirming things though. of course I WILL post these on 4.cn where the "irrational" domain investor resides. lol and the idea of Trademarks very much a joke.

edit:

there's about 45 LIVE Trademarks using the keyword Daydream.

Thing is with that many trademarks. should this FACT scare someone who wants to use the word DayDream?

I've never understood the concept of Trademarks. Especially when I see so many LIVE Trademarks using the same Keyword.

I always think. I'm sure at some point in the beginning there was that FIRST trademark for the word Daydream. so what made thee other 44 LIVE Trademarks decide to proceed to pay to trademark a domain using the same word? Operative word here is PAY. sounds like too much of a hassle and it's not Cheap. Trust me I know I just got my Trademark done last minute.

so my point is. if those 44 other trademarks weren't "worried" that the word in their trademark is already a part of another trademark and I'm sure their lawyers pointed it out. then I'm assuming it's ok to use Daydream in my domain?

I await to be corrected and educated. lol Thanks in advance.

Thats makes no difference when it comes to trademarks, Apples have been around since Adam and Eve were around but Apple is still a trademark

Its all about usage and bad faith, and when you have VR and Daydream together in a name, that shows your intentions with the name.

The other 44 trademarks are not related to "VR Daydream" or DayDream VR", thats the difference, start "Daydream Electrical" and you will be fine, but dont infringe on their trademark

This is what gives us dominers a bad name Im afraid, its not the way to do business

Have a read through the legal section on NP, its very helpful.

I had no intention of "in bad faith" these domains. I do have a habit of impulse buying. a habit I need to taper down. BUT since I do have them it's my best interest to profit from it as best I can and move on. If I can get $100-$250 for these "mistakes" then that's a good day.

most likely whoever buys these will sit on them and can afford to sit on them for a while until someone who can legally use them will buy them for a big payday for the owner.

Again Daydream is a Google product. and for sure it's trademarked. didn't stop thee owner of DaydreamVR.com from buying or registering DaydreamVR.com and even worse paying to register the trademark?

also just did a check and someone does own VRDaydream.com and has it listed on SEDO for a min offer of $90.

This person too must be an idiot like me. lol

thanks anyways Giles.
