Online auction house eBay has begun delisting sales of virtual goods and items, a move that could threaten a bustling internet economy.

I thought that might include domains but it appears it is at this point only segmented towards online game characters. Scary title for those that sell domains on ebay.

That is shocking. Why would they do that? There is a huge market for that right now and they can make a ton off of royalty fees. Where else are you going to sell characters.

Probably so they don't get sued for people selling game accounts, etc? Just a guess, but I'm pretty sure that it's against the TOS of most games to sell accounts.

Not for the gold farmers.

The better question is: Who's going to risk selling these domains on ebay?

I believe this is geared more towards games like Guild Wars and World of Warcraft. Both of these games have gold and other game items for sale on Ebay. Many people farm gold and make into a real business over in Asia. So in this case, it's a good move.

:imho:

In my guild (on GW, unsuprisingly) there are a few people who used to buy game items off ebay - I try to discourage it, to make the game fairer. So for me, this is a good move.
