Hi everyone, I am wanting to know some opinions from other members as to where would be the best place to sell domains quickly. I have done a lot of searching both on this site and on Google and just find so much conflicting info that I just though I would ask you guys for your opinions directly.

I have some domain names that are going to expire in 1-3 months and I want to sell them before I have to pay the renewal fees. I wanted to know what site/service would be best for quicker sales than just listing them in a portfolio and waiting.

I prefer something that doesn't charge for listing the names or at least is cheap to list.

I have only sold domains to end users myself so this would be a first for me.

I was looking into Flippa, Sedo, etc. but I was hoping to get some good opinions/advise from people that I value input from.

I would appreciate opinions as to who to use and why you think they would be best.

All opinions and good advise is welcome.

Thanks in advance to all who reply.

I'm brand new to this site so I don't know how much clout this holds but why not listing the domains on this site? I don;t know if it's against the rules or not, so hopefully somebody else will chime in on this, but I believe you are allowed to post the your domain and auction service in some section of this site. I mean if you are selling them anyways, whats the harm of marketing that in as many places as possible?

Thanks for your reply but I was looking at selling the domains to mostly end users which is why I wanted to use another site. Most people here are looking for cheap domains at wholesale prices so they can resale them later or park them. I was thinking about a couple of the auction sites but not sure which if any will fit my needs. I am hoping for some more opinions on my particular requirements.

Selling domains in a hurry 1-3 months is hardly compatible with selling domains to end users. If this was so easy, we would all be doing that and be much richer than we are currently :) I think your best bet would be at flippa.com.

If they don't sell there, and you are going to drop them, then I'd post them for sale on NP, and give a fellow domainer a chance at selling them.

Thanks Stub, you input is always welcome. What I was meaning was that I was looking to get more than a couple of dollars for each domain and was hoping a developer or end user might want a certain name and it would be worth it to them to pay for the renewal fees. I was thinking about offering to pay the renewal fees if the name reaches a certain amount.

So which platform are you talking about? Flippa/NP/elsewhere? I know you aren't likely to get a lot on NP, but it's better than just dropping the domains, imho. You are doing your fellow domainers a favor. But in any case, you are not going to get a whole lot for expiring domains, which you haven't been able to sell. It's not going to be realistic. Why have developers or end-users not contacted you in the first 9-11 months? If you are not confident enough to renew the domains yourself now, because they might not sell, that doesn't bode well for any of them catching a sale, imho. But as I've said, you should at least try Flippa.

The 2 places I had thought about were Flippa and Sedo. I know on here names don't get much bBC people want to flip them or park them. If it comes down to dropping I would offer them here before doing that. I would rather give them away if I can't sell them over dropping them.

These aren't names I haven't been able to sell, they are domains I originally intended to develop sites on but I just have too much going on with other sites that I don't have time for them. I haven't tried to sell them at all yet.

I have close to 20 websites that are in different stages of development that I am working on. Not enough time for the others yet. I was debating on just renewing them and hope for more time down the road but was considering selling them also.

Hi @ulterios ,
You can list your domains at Namepros, Make Offer section, or other selling pages.
The point here is that you are looking for End Users specifically, so the best thing to do is to contact them in the traditional way, mailing and....so on......
HOWEVER,
This does not mean, you cant find End Users at Namepros, NP has millions of members & active users and a large number of them are themselves Website Developers, Website Investors, Bloggers, Project Managers & .....and always looking for brilliant ideas, domains and websites.
So placing your names on Name Pros with your expected price or make offer listing could probably find you an end-user/ There are good chances. Resellers can also pay you good price if they find your idea domains worth investing.
So, this is all upto you how you find opportunities and utilise them. Best of Luck.

Thanks for your input but actually NP is not the best choice for end users, once you have been here a while you will realize that most of the people here are wanting the domains cheap so they can either resell them or park them. That's why it is hard to get a good price on here.

I love this forum and many of the members are great people but this is a Domaining site and domainers aren't looking to pay a premium for domain names. That is why the members who are wanting a good price for their domains list them on Flippa or Sedo or another site of that type. The members who have sold or tried to sell on here know that you won't get top dollar so they usually list them here to help out other members or because they want a real quick sell.

Just FYI NP doesn't have Millions of members, they are under 1 Million. But again, most are domainers looking to make a profit themselves so they can't pay retail prices for a domain.

Again, thanks for your input. All opinions are welcome.

Good Luck with your domains.

you sell for the price you "settle" for

just because you list domains on NP, doesn't mean you have to accept the offers received.

same applies to anywhere you list a domain

imo....

I would say flippa would have more urgency about it than Sedo, but Sedo would definitely have more end users. But from my experience on Sedo, you need a lot of time for a sale to mature. More time than you currently have. If you want end-users eyeballs, I've personally found GoDaddy to be the best option. You should probably choose the 7day auction option there. The only downside is you need to renew the auction manually. Which shouldn't be a problem with just 20 domains.

Thanks again Stub, I don't know why but GoDaddy had slipped my mind. I was leaning towards Flippa before. I have never sold one on Flippa or GD, do you know if they charge for a domain to be listed or just a fees after the listing ends.

I am wanting to know ... where would be the best place to sell domains quickly.

When you find out, then let the rest of us know too.

My opinion is to stay away from Sedo and Flippa.

Selling domains for high prices AND at high volume doesn't exactly go hand in hand.

If you're looking for a quick turnaround, you usually have to lower your expectations for the prices you can achieve.

The highest prices (usually) come from end users who come to YOU and contact you directly, or negotiate via a sales platform. You can ask for more because you have the upper hand. But you could also be waiting a long time for the perfect offer to come along.

99% of my sales have been on Sedo, and to business owners or startup founders. They've also been passive, meaning I just wait for offers to roll in.

It doesn't hurt to market your names in as many places as possible. Unless they're genuinely premium "long-hold" names, just have a realistic floor price in mind. To sell a lot of domains quickly, you have to take a less passive approach and do some of the hard work yourself to contact end users (but in general, don't do this unless you have decent names and the people you're emailing are highly targeted and have a proven need for domains in that field; otherwise it's just useless spam that hurts us all in the long run).

Thanks for the wishes for my domain sales :) , I have made few recently and have launched campaign to promote my dot com TradingBench to end users. Besides I can agree that there are more resellers than endusers on forums, the same thing I proposed that why not take a chance of listing as many places as possible, no one knows when & where you reach the enduser, just repeating we are on the same page on most of the points in different ways, I am simply encouraging you. Good Luck

On Flippa, it is recommended that you pay for some advanced listing, rather than go with the regular $9 listing fee. I've tried to list 2 good premium .cc with the $9 fee, and although I got few bids, neither were satisfactory. Not enough eyeballs. On GoDaddy their is no listing fee with a 10% commission on a sale. Lot's of eyeballs. Half of my annual sales always come from GoDaddy.

If the domain is at GD the fastest way to sell is a GD premium listing but they take 30%.

I was already planning on taking less that I would like, just to get a sale done quickly. I know I am not gonna hold out to get an ideal price given that I would like to move them. I just don't want to let them go for nothing, I would rather renew them if that was the case and hold them till I am ready to use them.

Thanks for your input. I'll have to see what the differences are between a regular and a premium listing. I've seen it before but can't remember what they are and if it might be worth it or not. Thanks again
