:hi: Ok straight to the question. If a .com domain is sold for 100$ at auction , then what will be the expected value of its .info version? Consider it as just a 2 word random dictionary words that make some sense..

Does 5% seems a good value?

It is very difficult to say without a knowing the exact domain and even then it would only be a speculation. If the keywords go well with .info extension then it can sell for a really good price. But the fact that .com sold for really high price can have both, negative and also positive effect what the .info might sell for.

There are two many variables to have a set percentage, but, based on what you've posted above the domain in question isn't worth anything.

- Two random dictionary words together don't make a good .info domain, without development plans

- It doesn't look good for the keywords in any other extension if the .com only fetches $100 at auction, assuming it's auctioned at a venue that gets the right quantity and quality of viewers.

It depends on the keyword, but in general probably closer to 1% or under IMO.

I have bought some .INFO for under $100 that would sell for hundreds of thousands in .COM

0.3% - at most.

And if the domain has been registered for less than 2 yrs it drops further.

Just my 0.02 :p

with german keywords, you get more than what is been posted here.
probably sometimes up to 10% or even more of the .com sale.
even with hyphens there are sometimes good .info sales with german keywords.

if the .info is related to inforamtion-based content, example information about cancer, ford cards, types of flowers, or just health and diet tips then that .info is worth 10%-15% of the .com counterpart. But, if you are talking about: buyflowers.info, sellcars.info, cheapdietpills.info then that is not even 1% of the .com price.

Currently info is rated to be worth 11.35% of .com value at http://domainindex.com/indices/ratings

For comparison, that same site puts .net at 23.89% and .tel at 0.23% of .com

Decide for yourself if you agree with those ratings.

Interesting....

Lotto.info sold for $19,500 last week (up from $12,500 in 2007)

Using the ratios you have quoted (11.35% & 23.89%)would price Lotto.net @ $41,044

Lotto.net has just sold this week for โ‚ฌ32,500 = $42,450 !

Sedo has IDNX - http://www.idnx.com/

They have .info trading at 87% less than the .com so 13%, near the one carob posted about with 11.35%.

Hi thanks, I didn't realise you can scroll down there and put in different extensions to chart their performance.

Which raises an interesting question: what information do we really have? Publicly reported .info sales?

Sedo's downloadable reports say maybe 90% of sales at Sedo are not made public... so do the figures we have for relative domain values reference published or also unpublished sales?

If a .com domain is sold for 100$ at auction , then what will be the expected value of its .info version?

you cannot calculate it from $100
because the reg fee is almost $10 (ok, some pay $3 in the first year for .info)

so you have to take .com's worth at least $1k or better 5k, and then remove the upper 5% from both .info and .com sales (from the statistics)

then you get the average value of a .info

Consider it as just a 2 word random dictionary words that make some sense..

those would be worthless .info's
and even many .com's

you should evaluate only one word names and names like real estate, credit card

i would rather look the visit numbers.. though the ranking will effect and it does change the price of the domain however it is .info or .com
