domain value of foreign and .ws TLDs?

I found a couple of top level domain names, around 50 thousand hits on overture last month, but they are in .jp and .tw!

what do you guys think of their value?

they would cost about 69-99 dollars per year to register, that's if I am allowed to register them in the US, which I am not sure about.

anythoughts also on .ws, or other non-common TLDs?

As a rule I stick to country TLDs only when I intend to develop towards the local market. If you want to trade globally I believe .com is the way to go.
There are exceptions of course such as .tv or .fm. JMO.
With the reg fee you could register several .com names.
If you will not reg in native language then it may be useful to ask a native speaker or someone who knows the local market if the name has a chance to kick in. JMO.

.WS is considered a Global TLD by the search engines..

You cant cant any top tier .coms without spending a small fortune but you can get those same top keywords for a fraction of the cost in .WS.
