Here's my question..what is the value of domain hack? I've seen some good domain hack and i was wondering about the value of it. I myself own one and i'm not sure whether or not i should get more. I haven't seen any sale of domain hack. Why do we register domain hack? Is it because the domain looks cool or because there's a potential end user who's willing to buy such domain?

Hey jenna323,
It is easy to prove me wrong
- Find Mullenweg's personal homepage (Hint for you, it is a domain hack as well). In the contact page you will see "he loves email" and he will do his best to reply to every email he receives.

Yes, I know he owns ma.tt, and a few other hacks. I also know that he develops his names (hmm port.al isn't developed 'though) and that, historically, he has always acquired names fresh reg or "on the drop" (so did you once own this name and then drop it?).

If you want to prove that you got a sale on port.al, lets all see some correspondence from him, or the person you were dealing with, published on this thread.

I am more than happy to apologise to you, publicly, if indeed you got a sale... ;)

Hey Jenna323,
I do not care if you believe or not. You asked for emais and I sent you the first communication.
In the end, I do not care if you believe or not. I do not care if you are this loser who feels better insulting others in a message board either.

And as I told you earlier, you can find the information you need through writing Matt directly. You just need to be smart and creative. Even the biggest enterpreneur is a human being. Now go play with your kid-friends.

Ok, please PM me his email address, and I will contact him.

If he confirms what you say, I will unreservedly give you a full public apology for having doubted you...

Fair?

:)

Thank you. I couldn't find anything on his blog, but I've contacted him
through Automattic and a different email address and I think it will
get through.

A full apology is on its way out to you as soon as I hear back from him.

:)

A while back somebody reported on NP that he sold soci.al for $50,000. Guess what, the domain is still not even resolving. And there are plenty of examples of fake domain hack sales. Not just in .al...

Of course, a fluke is always possible but I am even more skeptical when some sellers claim to repeat the same feat again and again.

Guess what: the seller of soci.al is none other than Indam.

Just sayin' :bah:

I hesitated to mention it, Katherine, but yes, you're right.. (as usual). I thought it better not to speak about this myself, however, particularly as there's the possibility I might have to apologize to him later today!

;)

jenna323, please don't directly attack other users in threads. I know it's tempting when you uncover something juicy, but if you have any doubts, please take it up with people in private, or at least be diplomatic about it. Also, we have a lot of members who are still getting the hang of English; their posts might sound a little unusual at first, but alluding to lack of integrity due to imperfect English is pretty low. I'm sure you don't sound too great in some languages yourself.

indam, please avoid responding to personal attacks out in the open: it encourages further trouble. Reporting a post and leaving the discussion tends to be the best course of action. Also, please don't post private correspondence; it's a poor business practice. I'm going to ask that you also remove the images that you've uploaded elsewhere.

I've edited out the rest of this post for now. However, please keep in mind that it is possible for registrars to manipulate the prices of uncommon TLDs in various ways. While inordinately expensive sales do sometimes occur, they are rare. Don't change your tactics on a whim; use your judgment. If a sale sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Ok, Paul, show me where I have attacked someone?

Also, suggesting that I am against someone because their first language isn't English is ridiculous and wrong. I have helped several non-English speaking members on this forum, and my posts will also prove that.

Furthermore, giving me an "infraction" and deleting my posts in this thread, is not a very clever idea.

If namepros.com genuinely wants to remain a forum, for the benefit of its members, then discussions of this nature are vitally important and must be done in public, not privately. If you continue to censor me, and attempt to give me a public "dressing down" then you no longer have a forum.

i'm sorry.. but why is Paul Buonopane deleting/editing posts in this thread?
i can only see his "Tech Support" badge - is he a new moderator or super-user here?
doesnt namepros have experienced staff/mods we all know and trust anymore to do the job?
who is Paul to delete messages by users that are members since 2006?
you are even not a mod for this forum..
joined May 2013, 169 posts

dear Paul, unless you got Admin (not Tech admin), Mod, God etc badge tell us what the heck is going on with moderating NP forums now?
shoul we expect every new tech support rep/javascript-php dev to censor forums, judge members, award infraction points etc??

can Eric please comment on this sh*t a little bit too

...am very disappointed.

I would sell them for whatever I could get as they are not good domains at all. Don't waste your time & money developing them.

you should avoid two words hack or long hack.

how hard is it to rank a developed site on a hacked domain? But rather than say "beach.es" (the extension forming part of the word) what about something like say... prints.it or sold.it (where the extension forms a phrase, rather than part of the word)?

Talking about .it ranking in say UK or US.

Thanks for any input.

The best hacks are the jing.ly ones.

E.g., brief.ly, name.ly, sincere.ly...

---------- Post added at 12:36 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:36 AM ----------

Then of course .ME names, but technically they are not hacks, as much as the new gTLDs, e.g., .guru .et .al

No, I think the best one is like inter.net or tele.com

What makes you think those are the "best hacks"? They are totally garbage.
