ouch that's a painful renewal isn't it. Depends on your situation, I personally wouldnt without a trust fund but I'm new so take that with a grain of salt :)

I was eyeing this one for over a month.

Very nice name, IMO.

At the current market conditions, two letter .tv names are selling for mid to high x,xxx. You can find some decent xx,xxx sale of some two letter .tv names.

it.tv - $12K+ ($5K renewal)
de.tv - $20k+ ($5K renewal)
tx.tv - $7.5k

us.tv is one of the prime geo names, with lot of possibilities.

All the best! :tu:

This is a great name. If you have a development plan it could work out very well. If not, the premium renewal could hurt long term.

Good luck!!

it's not too bad because it's short and can be either u.s (united states) or us (we) so i think good to have options .....good luck

developing this domain would be right way to go.

With that name you also get Poker.us.tv, Sex.us.tv, Business.us.tv, Games.us.tv, Video.us.tv...

Awesome pick up, IMO.

Loads of dev potential...

Good luck!

Did you negotiate this purchase? Most of the other two letter .TV's are 10,000/y.

Even at 5k a year that is one of the best regs I've heard about for some time.

The possibilities are endless

Great call - good luck

us.tv was dropped yesterday by the previous owner. It was at $4,000/yr before the drop. Now, the registry has increased the renewal fee from $4,000/yr to $5,000/yr.

I spoke about this one with another member for a while yesterday but in my eyes the renewal was too much to simply buy to resell.

If you have a development plan then the $5k yr renewal is now impossible as obviously this domain has incredible potential.

DO you have any plans for it?

Did you try negotiate a discount if you renewed for 2 years upfront? I dont know if they still offer these discounts, i know another member posted recently that all discounts are cancelled but i dont know for certain.

Good Luck with this whatever you do.

Definately a great name but the $5k/year is a bit of a killer if you're gonna just hold for resale without development. Are you planning on developing at all?

You can easily make $5K a year with it. Offer free domain registrations (subdomains). Offer free dns service, email etc. Free ad supported hosting.. start your own free tv channel. Billions. :)

As many already said, if you have a develop plan, then congrats.
If you just hope to hold it for few years and sell it with a higher price.
You probably need to take a look of following table.

Good luck :snaphappy:

(sold price) (renewal fee paid) (profit)
it.tv $12,000 $10,000 $2,000
de.tv $20,000 $10,000 $10,000
tx.tv $7,500 $10,000 -$2,500

Regging Us.tv definately depends on 2 things:

1) Do you plan to develop it, or sell it?

2) How much money do you have?________________________________________________________________
If you plan on developing it, and have lots of money, then neither of the above apply.
If you plan on developing it, and don't have lots of money, will you be able to keep up with the $5,000 a year to register it?
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
If you bought it to resell, then you can hope you sell it within the first year, for more than $5,000 to make a profit.
In the second year, you will have to sell it for more than $10,000, to make a porfit.
In the 3rd year, you need to make more than $15,000, in the 4th year more than $20,000!!
_______________________________________________________________
I think US.tv has great potential, but at $5,000 a year, it always a gamble. The longer you keep it, the more money YOU HAVE TO MAKE, to make a profit, or even break even.

tx.tv $7,500 $10,000 -$2,500

Also UV.tv $4,355 $400 $3620 (sedo fees also)
James illustrates a good point. The more the reg fee, it doesn't always mean a larger profit. You odds are better with a smaller reg fee.

Maybe Mike knows something too! :hi:

It looks like you got a deal when compared to other geo-2letter .tv renewal fees.

Id try to flip it for 10k+.

i love the name

as far as future, it will only go up.

2 key questions as mentioned before

1 your cash postion and if your liquid to do this
2 your development plans for this top notch name and 5k a year

5k a year on one name is a lot of cash

me personally i keep going back and forth on owning one high profile name...when the timing is right for me cash wise i will approach enom on a name

flip it asap and see what comes and if u dont sell it get more money to develope it

dont hold it for reselling because the fee is huge for that purpose

I thought the same thing. Could be a geo, could be "us"-definitely tons of potential. Definitely worth it if you can afford the $5,000/year.
