It appears the domain industry has been starting to take notice of the .us namespace over the past year, read DnJournal.com .us growth and Namepros with even greater expectations for the year to come.

So I thought it would be a good idea to ask everyone to show us your .us domain names. You can post your favorites or your entire portfolio.

I am unimpressed by the .us market. For those that aren't, ebay is giving them away. Just go to the domains category and search ".us" in the completed auctions.
Recent Sales:
Breads.us $2.50
HomeFurnishings.us 2.25
Mirrors.us 5.50
Linens.us 9.00
Paints.us 4.50
SoundSystems.us .99
Upholstery.us 2.25
etc.
Seems like all of these would have soared in .com!

Those numbers are inaccurate and some are not appearing at all but still funny... if only you told me about this while they were still running. I see one or two I'd pick up for a few bucks. :bingo:

I don't see any of those in completed .us domain listings (although given that your post is from 2 weeks ago (3 almost) it's possible they're no longer listed...

Are you sure they were completed with a sale - and not completed with 0 bids or no buyer?

If they sold for those amounts, a HUGE steal for the buyer to develop!

We're doing well with oxycodone.us with minimal effort.

Update: Some of the Members & staff (including myself) agreed that it's a good idea to remain consistent with these type of OFFICIAL threads. Just like the .Co & other Official threads, The 2 .Us threads have now been merged & retitled into 1 Official thread.

I was the lucky one to get mirrors.us, upholstery.us, and soundsystems.us for those prices on ebay :D

Neustar was already due to launch a campaign in 2008.
I have stopped expecting anything from them long ago.

Despite my own skepticism, I reg'd Hispanderโ€ขus and Hispanderingโ€ขus in light of recent political headlines. Nice slang verbs getting increased media play, and the names would make good hispanic political blogs. I see the .me's are available too, but I'm not venturing there. Missed the .com for Hispandering by a day.

Just got a $1,000 offer on unity.

I have a sense that this name could go for a lot more.

My question: should I send it to auction and see what the market will bear, or should I counteroffer?

Unity.co went for $12,000, but I also realize that .us is not as hot (currently) as .co.

It's also an election year in the U.S., so that may be a factor.

I'm not looking for an appraisal, but some opinions on what you would do if you were in this situation with this particular domain.

Also, I'm a little bit emotionally attached to this domain (one of my faves), but as the old saying goes, "Never fall in love with something that can't love you back."

Unity is a nice name! my only suggestion is that you seriously think about the .US market and its state(which you've aready referenced), AND the value of unity within that framework. Final step is you deciding what a "fair" price for unity is within .US market pricing. But you have sentimental attachment, so increase your estimated asking price and at that point you should have a reasonable asking price.people tend to underestimate .us, but the US' GDP and per capita income will always be good drivers of making .US names sell for god prices(for a ccTLd offcoure). Good luck.

I usually do not send to auction unless I know there is a chance other people would be interested and join. But I sometimes use the option as leverage: buy now for $2500 or I reserve the right to send to auction at the current bid of $1800.

.us is not very hot so I wouldn't bank on a second bidder. If that is the opening offer, counter-offer why not 5K and try to land a still nice sale.

I second sdsinc's advice.

Unless you really need the cash, I think a brand like Unity is worth far more than $1,000 in .US.

Even the .BIZ sold for $4,000 in 2007.

There is really no point pushing to auction though. It is unlikely to attract many bidders on SEDO.

I would try closing a sale with the party directly.

Good advice.

Many times in counter offers I will let it be known I prefer to make a direct sale instead of pushing to auction.

This gives buyers the reassurance to make a stronger offer, knowing it won't be sent to auction.
