Url to disappear? Google Chrome mobile Update.

After an update to the google chrome android app, I've noticed that the home page doesn't allow me to use the adress bar. I now need to use the search form to enter a url. Do you think that google is slowly giving less importance to web addresses?

I noticed something similar. I use "iron", a version of chrome on three different windows PCs.

one of them has the address area with "search" preceding it. it still works, but I am thinking this would let G know what sites I am going to by direct navigation (typing in the URL).

Why would Google want to own domains (become a registrar), if they are going to give less importance to them? I don't think that's their goal. It seems like they are continuously evolving based on what users want, which is good. However, it's bad for the rest of us that don't like that feature. Case in point, I still use Yahoo! Mail, GMail and PayPal in the classic format, because I'm used to it. I also use a Windows XP/2000 'theme' on Windows 7.

I think It just make domains look old.
The reality is that people are using google isntead of the adress bar.

And, I saw a lot of student in my classroom clicking on search results links without noticing the domain name.

Now people are searching and clicking on the web page titles. What they don't know is that anyone can put whatever they want as their website title.

While that is true, it's also true that Google will modify your title from time to time by selecting different phrases in other elements than the title tag.
