Today when I went through ebay, I found some people selling their reseller hosting with UNLIMITED diskspace and bandwidth for around $15-$25 a month. I am just confused about what they mean by unlimited.

Does anybody have any expierence with this type of companies? Are they really reliable?

None! they will probably go down after 5 months.

There is no way to know - But as stated .... there is no such thing as "Un-limited" ... "Un-Metered" is probably what they really mean - and the amount of space/bandwidth would still rely on what Their Specs are.

This topic keeps coming up again and again.

These are the facts.

Anyone who offers you unlimited disk space or unlimited transfer is a LIAR.
There is no other way to put it. It doesn't exist so if they are offering it to you they are lying.

Would you want to do business with someone who feels the only way to get customers is to lie? Or would you be more comfortable going with someone who is confident enough in their business plan that they don't need to lie?

If you do choose to go unlimited you better make sure you read the TOS well. There will be many restrictions on how you can use those resources.

As others have said, there is no such thing as unlimited if you take that statement literally. What the seller is really saying is they will charge you a flat rate regardless of how much bandwidth your site uses. The problem with this kind of host is that they attract many bandwidth 'hogs', and end up overselling their resources. They give 10 times the amount of space they actually have, and HOPE all the users combined don't go to their limits.

Other than the fact that unlimited is in other word a big lie, I would suggest you look elsewhere than on eBay for your hosting needs.

The overall average maybe. But when someone advertises 'unlimited' they attract all the BIG bandwidth hogs, making THEIR average in the multiple gigs.

I agree with Gene.

Those who purchase small plans for ex. 250MB/5GB expect to use less than that. If someone purchases an unlimited plan they are most probably aiming to use up quite a bit of space and bandwidth but soon get disappointed because the host disappears or they get booted because they used up too much resources..

Unlimited sometimes means you can only have files less than 2 MB and stuff...its not worth it in the end
