Heres a mail i just received.

Domains <[email protected]> to collieri

Hi Ian,

I am writing to inform you that spanishgolfholiday.COM has expired and will be released to the public within the next few days.

There is a good chance that there will be several interested parties attempting to capture this domain when it is released, these will vary from parties with a genuine interest to domain name speculators otherwise known as cyber squatters who often put large price tags on such domains.

We are domain acquisition specialists and I felt that as the owner of spanishgolfholiday.info, you would have a much more genuine interest in acquiring spanishgolfholiday.COM.

If you would like us to try and acquire this domain on your behalf then please let me know as soon as possible preferably within the next 4 days as any later and it may be too late.

If you are genuinely interested, then I recommend you either call me on (UK +44) (0) 207 471 1803 or email me a number so that I can call you, as any delays in email communication could result in missing out on this domain.

Kind Regards

Nice idea huh. Especially if you script expiring domains, match them with whois info of other tld owners of the same domain name and auto mail the admin contact with that letter...??

Bet you get all sorts of positive replies, you then get their maximum bid amount, bid for them and take a nice cut....

Would do it myself if i had the numpties to write the script.. D-:

Yeah or you charge em a non refundable $25

More likely they will ask for a one off fee regardless
of whether they get the name or not say $25 so
even if they are not sucessful they will be in the money.

Greeeaat idea.

LOL, this sounds familiar to me, as I did a very similar thing when I had domains to expire that didn't mach my portfolio or had no income.
The response was quite positive on some one by one mailing ;)

The idea of a script, that does this, but based on actual member portfolios is nice.
I mean you post the domains you will let expire, and the script does this work for you.
How you would avoid beeing concidered as "Spam", but some nice thoughts.

But then he might have to wait for 35-40 days till the domain basicaly drops.

So another words, they try to catch the name off the drop or backorder it, the same thing you can do on your own. I would write back and ask what the charge for this is? Sounds like a new style scam if you ask me.

Not exactly
Basically a 1st hand chance drop offer :?
1) Users that do NOT say "I will sell my name". They say:
"I will let it drop right in your hands or I will let it drop in the snap pool and you may be lucky with a 60$
2) A script that does the formerly described (incl. the cold mailing)

And some leagal advice on querying WHOIS & sending out quite some mail wouldnt be wrong i think.

Maybe start of with a striped down version like:
Owners post any domain they will let expire for whatever reason, and couldn't find a buyer yet.
Some thoughts on this maybe lead in TDNAM direction ;)

In any case if someone wanna start a project like this.....
here is the Domain package for it.
PreDATEors.com
PreDATEor.com
or whatever TLD --> unregged in all extensions ! :bingo:
:notme:

REGARDING THE EMAIL YOU RECEIVED:
Yes sounds like scam, as they don't have control over the name. 8-X
and much bla bla bla ....
I suppose they aim for a minimum fee of 70-100 with option on price increase as time goes by ;)

If you are really interested in the .com version
You may shoot them a reply like "OK I pay you whatever <60"
and see what comes as reply.

It's fact, that if you have mayor TLDs of your domain/site its definetly a A+.
This makes this thing tempting - lol

I saw a phone number - Give them a call - Find out :music:

Hi Guys

Thanks for all your comments, its no scam, just a service I have put together for those not in the know about domains. There are so many people out there that will try to get domains on the drop and hold companies to randsom with heafty price tags, companies and people that haven't got a clue about the industry, how it works or how to start. Many people also loose their .com's by not keep up to date whois info and the registrars are unable to conatct them.
I often find the owners of other extension were also the owners of the .com, all of the makerting and market awareness was done on the .com and when they loose it, their business can collapse if they can't pay a "squatters fee"

Yes I do make a profit, after all that what we are in business for.
A third of my profits are given away, you will see from my site Tripoduk.com on the about us page some of the companies we help. We are also currently building a Church and a nursey school in India and I have recently come to South Africa to get involved in helping out over here.

The profit I make is small in comparision to the "squatters" I just go for bulk.
Companies like webname solutions are rather anoying because they take money of people in advance and prentend to own the domain before it has even dropped. He has pretty much copied my business model but goes about it in an unethical way. I asked for the thread to be reopend as I didn't want people to link me with the same style of pratice as him.

I hope that has cleared up things for you guys.

If any of you run your own drop scripts and can offer me some alternaives to the normal enom godaddy snaps etc, I would be happy to work with you.

Kind Regards
