These 3 domains cost me in total about $70. How much did they sell for? $950, $500 and $200 respectively. $1650 in sales for a $70 investment, not bad! So why did I buy them?

ZapDragon.com, I seen this as an app/game, a warrior with a laser gun fighting dragon’s!

HostingBooth.com, Self-explanatory, a web hosting service/company.

PinCheck.com, I seen that this could be used for some sort of mapping service or checking in app.

Not bad, but it would make sense to write how much the whole portfolio cost you, not just 3 domains you sold. This way people will understand about ROI, not dream that they can invest $70 and get $1650.
Of course, $500-800 --> $1650 sounds less fancy, but more truth.

Domaining will be at best a mildly lucrative hobby for most

Might buy a few nice things (holiday etc)

It's like coin collecting, baseball cards or comic book collecting...everyone can claim to own a few valuable items.
But very few make a career out of it.
And even fewer have a career longer than 10 yrs doing it

Good return on your investment. The search giant's have changed the domain industry with their search filtering. Good domains still bring good prices however. All depends on who wants the intellectual property and how deep their pockets are.

AndyM, you have a good instink on how to buy brandable domains. Could you share how / where you sold the names ?

"The first two were sold through Efty.com and PinCheck.com through buy now at Flippa.com."

The ones through efty were make offer so I negotiated up from the buyers initial offers, which in fairness were not that bad and told me they were serious about the names.

Great story, Andy, and inspiring too. I sold VapeShop.com a couple of years ago, to I believe someone who flipped it for slightly higher (it wasn't used for about a year and was parked with a for sale page). Just last night I checked on it and am happy to see it's an actual shop now. Made me super happy to see (originally I drop caught it with plans to develop it).

So let me ask, how do you feel to see names you registered become something like games or hosting companies? Is it cool that you thought of the brand first?

Hi Nate, very rarely do I check to see what my sold domains are doing now although I knew ZapDragon.com would be used before I sold it as I found out that the buyer was using the .net.

Vapeshop is a really great name :)

VapeShop.com is pure gold for the industry buyer.

I was super excited to have the name and was planning to launch an eCommerce site. Things fell through with my partner and I just sorta sat on the name waiting. It set me back $20 to acquire it and I thought whoever let it drop was insane. Then I got like six offers and finally bit the bullet. I know I undersold though. Live and learn. It got a fire under myself to learn more about domaining and now I'm here... soaking up what I can and making more mistakes to learn from haha :)

Nice returns, PinCheck - could be used for Personal Identification Number (powerful name)

ZapDragon is just a class brandable for app game.

Great picking ++
