The new weekly domain sales report is out at DNJournal.com. With just one month left in the 2016 sales season we have a new King of the Hill. In the biggest domain sale reported so far this year, a Chinese company paid over $3.7 million for a two-letter.com (the company upgraded from an unwieldy 5-letter acronym). That is more than $1.5 million more than the second highest 2016 sale (that came just three weeks ago). The #2 spot ion our latest weekly all extension Top 20 Sales Chart went to a new gTLD that sold for $45,000. The ccTLDs also had something to cheer about as they piled up eight entries on the Big Board. You can get all of the details here: http://www.dnjournal.com/archive/domainsales/2016/20161207.htm

I was just wondering do a lot of big sales come at the end of the year, maybe for tax purposes etc?

All I can tell you is that, in my opinion, Sedo must be plumb pissed-off having their sales results lumped in with the likes of Snapnames and Flippa. Sedo has no checkered past or seemingly potentially dishonest policies. Looks like Ron Jackson has no problem putting all of them in the same mix. What does that tell you about Ron? If I were Sedo, I'd fume each Wednesday.
