I hand reg'd this domain in 2004 way before twitter sprang up, and only bought it as a domainer does thinking it may increase in value over time, now that twitter has arrived I'd like to develop the domain into some kind of twitter user guide, app store, forum, etc. Can I do this without getting in trouble with twitters lawyers?

There are plenty of similar sites with similarly brand-able twitter-ish names which are doing just fine. I think as long as you don't step on their toes, you should be fine. Something that compliments their site can only be a good thing for them.

See how other similar sites are run - pay particular attention to how they generate revenue, I think in most cases you'd find they don't use google adsense or similar things, instead the are using other ways to generate money. Features such as paid membership/downloads, direct ads/banners etc. - so that way you're not piggy-backing of their success as such.

* I'm no lawyer - and this could all be useless info. Just my opinion. Oh and I think this might be better suited in the Law part of the forum.

Good luck with it whatever you do.

Tricky one, you might be better off developing it in a way that's not associating with Twitter. But unfortunately, yes, the real value in it is as a Twitter related product. I'm curious to know how much traffic you get from it, with it being a "twitter a like" domain.

I'd say if you're going to develop it for somethng Twitter related, stick a message on every page saying "This site is NOT owned by or sanctioned by Twitter."

P.S. Nice predicament to be in, though. Nice reg. :)
