Ok, let's break up the toy/vagina thread a little ;)
(Nothing against Jimbojimbo's great catch, just thought the thread sidetracked somewhat)
...
Alright, I know this is not the place to state anything negative about .tv, but imho I must agree with snoop that .tv can compete more at the .info level now, definitely not .net!
...
Let's not get carried away here, .tv is a niche domain and lots of great keywords will NOT work well with .tv.
I do have some serious "investments" in .TV so I wish it all the best! ...but it will never be a "generic" extension like .net!

Funny thing yesterday - I saw on Rick Latona's newsletter that the registrant of Townhomes.net was asking $25 grand for the name. A couple months ago I saw the equivalent .TV drop and considered it but passed (perhaps mistakenly) because I already had Townhouses.tv, RealEstateAgent.tv, & HousingMarket.tv. Someone else on the forum quickly snatched it up. But those are the sort of opportunities which have existed in .TV land the last year as many shunned or criticized the extension. The end user market for .TV domains has not changed overnight but I believe we will see a gradual acceptance of the extension. Of course .COM will continue to be the TLD of choice but it is now practically impossible for end users to find good .COM domains unless they are willing to pay $XXXX.

The collection of "brandable" .com names is almost unlimited...just look at how great CVCV.COM's are doing now.
...
.TV has its "5 minutes of fame" now and I hope it DOES break through as a legitimate contender for media related names...I REALLY don't want it to go .ws' direction...

Nope...TV is too recogognizable of a term; just have her 2 minz of fame...I have info from the future that tellZ me otherwise... I for one not only becuase of my info from the future, but my abilty to spot trendZ forces me to belive what ive been sayen.. I know yeah all think im a complete nut job but im fricken a good time at a party!

thats my story and im sticken to it !

Keep us updated please...I'm quite interested in how .TV will work with real estate domains.

Many real estate agents are already using videos to show their properties. Visit Youtube and type in any city + homes or condos to see what I mean. The site is under ongoing development but we already have RealEstateAgent.tv developed by EPIK utilizing the Devhub platform.

Me too... time will tell.

The extension clearly works well for some names (karate.tv) whilst doesn't have much fit with others (vagina.tv).

Totally disagree with you on that, it's like saying Tits.tv doesn't fit the extention. Vagina.tv fits the .tv extention perfectly, especially being an adult name perfect for a video site. Just look at how many adult video sites are out there....

I might have some disagreement as to whether the kubester was the "greatest", but what he said was absolutely correct.

Here's another mantra that is not too far behind regarding the elan that this forum has been manifesting...this from non other than James Dean:

“Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die today.”

If .tv is what it is now, I am one of those who believe that not all words fit the extension, resulting in an overall diminished value of the extension.

However, if the speculation is on shifting the Internet industry towards video ecommerce, etc then I see .tv as the only challenger to .com. This would be a huge leap but the thing is that the future is always shaped by speculators (movers and shakers).

Seems the .TV excitement somewhat died down...are people still buying premiums big time?

there's daily activity showing names being bought off the premium list, but greater movement in the secondary market as GoldRush & LandRush domains trade hands (based on whois tracking).

Agreed ... the HYPE and chatter has now settled back to reality; unless there are some effective marketings to End users (with subesquent unique and exciting developments (with promotions)) occurring at present, I don't see how the ".TV" extension can overcome a well documented 10-year history of sideways movement and known limitations of trading in & amongst Usual Suspect© .TV domainers, IMHO. :red:

Just my two sense,
Jeff B-)

No SDX, as Joel said a lot of names are being registered off the premium list and the drop.

There has been a social group created here for those who refused to put up with the nonsense http://www.namepros.com/groups/107-dot-tv-owners.html. others have taken their conversation to other places and a few people pmmed saying they were on vacation.

How does one go about joining this group please?.
