.tv vs .mobi

I think most of us have read the dnjounal about the new .tv hype.

and also, everyone is saying .mobi is great because everyone has a handphone.

so now, which is better to invest in, which has more potential ?

.mobi or .tv ?

i think .tv is guaranteed to come out on top. It is already an established extension amongst the public and it will continue to grow. If i asked non-domainers about .mobi, they wouldnt have a clue what i was talking about

.mobi - supposed to be meant for mobile devices is ironically one of the longest extensions. People would rather prefer a .com / .tv even on their mobile devices. It should've been an extension like .m instead of .mobi which would make more sense.

I would say tv, and I agree that having a long extension is silly on a mobile device. Kind of like some of the names that are reg'd for it.

Plus google fights shows that tv is clearly the winner.

I think that the fact that "TV" is recognized by every living being on the planet, regardless of country, race, or language give .TV a distinct advantage.

What .TV doesn't have is the backing of Dozens of Massive Corporations vested in its success.

What is absolutely true for EITHER extention is that whatever domains names are associated with them, they MUST be relevant to the extention.

"Directions" makes sense for .mobi but doesn't make any sense for .TV while "Reality" sounds right for .TV but seems worthless to .mobi

In the end... I think there is just TO MUCH inherent recognition for .TV to not be utterly successful. All we really need is some good, solid backing and it will really, REALLY take off.

Bud.TV is a big step forward. Oddly, it took a bunch of beer drinkers to get on the boat first.

I think MLB.TV is one of the most successful .TV I have seen, it has been running for a while and improvements are being made each year.

.TV is going to be big, and I think .MOBI is a great play right along with it,
if you can get both your doman names both extensions, you will be set up to win.

.TV is not "hype" or whatever you're calling it. Its the real deal, mainstream acceptance has started to surge forward. You see MANY commercials use .tv.

I understand the reasoning behind the higher fees but it is an important aspect of which is better to invest in.

If there is a mid $XXX+ budget per domain, .tv is probably the safer investment.

If buying speculative domains (<mid$XXX budget per domain), .tv's reg fees make the extension more risky in my opinion.

I keep a low budget per domain and so I avoid .tv
