.Mobi versus .TV

Okay guys,

Today I regged two domains:

www.stockticker.in
www.investmentadvice.tv

Now both of the above are great fitments with both TV and Mobi. i.e.

www.stockticker.mobi
www.stockticker.tv
&
www.investmentadvice.mobi

I would like to understand, which is the better option, long term viability and better resale value. Sometimes both TV & MOBI for a domain are available, but shortage of funds keeps me away from atleast one extension.

Any help, past experience would be appreciated.

If its for online video then .tv would be the better choice if its for a mobile website then .mobi would be better. It shouldnt be one against the other. they both have their niche. i do think that .mobi names have a better chance at being bought out by owners with the same name in different extensions who also want a mobile version though.

I am purely speaking from domaining prespective and resale value. To sell it obviously I'd develop it for the platform the TLD is most suited for.

I would say stockticker.mobi would be more useful than stockticker.tv. stockticker.tv doesnt sound like a video type of site. if it was stockmarket.mobi vs stockmarket.tv then it would be a tie.

stockticker - makes sense as a .mobi more than a .tv - if we assign "TV" = .tv and "Cell Phones" = .mobi - then StockTicker.mobi seems like the potential for a site where people are wondering what the latest updates to their stocks are. It works. There is a plausable situation where this website makes sense.


investmentadvice - makes sense in .tv but not in mobi. Consider, how many people are going to be cruising around, and suddenly want investment advice via their cellular devices? Honestly, not many. Its much less plauseable situation then StockTicker.mobi. (yah follow?).

Although I have my own opinions of .mobi - I do believe if your going to register it, it needs to make sense in that TLD.

I agree with your comment. Infact I figured that out (it took me long, but I am learning - perhaps much slowly).... But I am DYING to create a heirarchy in my mind on which is a better TLD... I have the following queue now:

.com, .net, .tv, .mobi, .us, .in

OK Hypothetical case: what if the domain was "buy.tv" versus "buy.mobi" or sex, dog, america, travel... anything that fits both beautifully!

.TV = USD 30 and Mobi is half the price :D

No use in comparing the two extensions. Just invest a little into each one if you arent sure which one you personally like more.

ooops... .org just after .net Well org is for non-profit... But am looking for profit, maybe thats why I missed it.
