thanks.

I own 1 or 2 .tv domains on namecheap that are just insignificant word combos... so its regular renewal fees.

however I am contemplating buying a single word .tv domain now.. and want to find out beforehand how much I'll pay to renew it. it appears to have been regged in 2017..

does this in any way depend on the registrar where its at or not at all? as far as I know it does not... but sometimes things get weird.

thank you

Renewal for .TV premiums is standard.

so this pretty much translates into: there is no such thing as premium .tv domains? or does someone (registry or other) still classify them as premium vs not premium despite the uniform price? if so, makes one wonder why they would do that.

If the domain has an initial registration date after March 18, 2010, no premium renewal.

If the domain is registered anywhere other than ENOM, no premium renewal.

Note that some .TV domains which were formerly considered premium and released with one-time fees in March 2010 cannot be transferred to just any registrar. For example, I have Bootcamp, Puppies, Collectibles,, Dinosaurs and Weston at Name.com as their renewals are cheaper than ENOM - but I cannot transfer them to Godaddy.

If you want to see evidence of the renewal rate you could ask the current registrant for a copy of their last renewal statement.

hey thanks a lot!
great link

now that I read it, I started to remember that thread you speak of.
which I only followed slightly.

that beign said, as per yoru links suggestion, I tried to transfer it to gd.. which asked for no code. when I went to cart, it said 29.99$

so I think I'll be okay

just as a side note.. I was slightly suprised to see this one word domain listed in a relatively unpopular market place at bin price < mid XXX... AND having been only regged in 2017... I still think it is a solid investment. but my lack of knowlege of tv domains in general, raised a question as to whether one can still so easily nowdays just kind of find and handreg single word .tv domains?

its aroudn 250 days old now.

but domaintools shows it as

21 records have been archived since 2013-05-26

it is not at enom.

I would not register a .TV domain just because it is one-word. Yes, you will find exceptions at Namebio but the odds of selling a .TV where the keyword does not scream video content are against you - at least at a portfolio level. Even with regular renewals, those $30-$35 renewals get expensive very quickly and the sell-through rate just does not work out well given the massive number of TLD options low-budget buyers have at their disposal.

I will add that it is common to see Youtube channels which proclaim themselves as "Keyword TV" even though they do not have the corresponding domain. For them Youtube is all they need. Why pay a premium for a domain when you get Youtube for free?

thanks. I am not tryng to spend 3XX$ just to own any random single word .tv domain. sorry if I was misunderstood.

but you have a good point about that video content.

however, many words can still be developed into having some video content.

think.. I don't know.. say... robot.tv? does it scream video content? probably not.
would you still buy it for 3XX? probably yes.

One trick that also applies to nTLDs: simulate a transfer at some registrar and look at the price in the shopcart.

ty Kate!

yep! 29$ to gd! :)

let me think some more on this purchase.. as I am no fan of .TV... and the keyword though great is not as obvious a fit for TV as say...... film.tv.. business.tv.... free.tv etc.....

but at same time.. neither is doctor.tv and many others.. that have sold for various amounts and are used for various purposes..

it'll be a close call.. and a tough one.. thanks for the help everyone.
