Hi,

I have a domain that should be able to rank very highly on yahoo and google with little work. I also think it's capable of receiving hits as is. The thing is I don't know how to build the PR of a domain without actually building an actual website, is this possible? Also, what's the best way to track accurate traffic? From what I hear Alexa can be off.

As far as I know, you need to build a website to get indexed in the search engines, and thus develop a PR.

There are several sites out there for tracking website traffic, statcounter for example.

Google analytics works well for me, but I can't see anyway to build PR without content

Ok. I was just wondering how so many people get tons of hits on domains that are only parked. Also, I'm showing a 3.8 million 3 month average at Alexa, is this correct?

If you are trying to improve the PR of a domain for resale
then development and promotion is the only effective way
the restrictions on promotion for parked domains makes it exceptionally difficult to improve PR.
Having said that, I would PAY less for a PR7 name that had never developed, than for a PR1 Site that was 12 months old.

PR means nothing in isolation. Traffic , Site demographics and income are the ONLY CRITERIA I use.

thanks for the quality info fellas. I think I'll probably just try to develop the site with marketing and promo then before I sell it.

Does anyone know about these Alexa rankings though? I wish those stats were true, but it seems hard to believe, no? Although there is another site which is very popular which is only different from my domain by one letter. So, I dunno.

I first used Alexa many years ago and never really thought much about it. If there is a reason to doubt Alexa, I'm sure a lot of people here would benefit by knowing. I would. Can you shed some information on that, JayA?

That's what I'm trying to figure out myself :)

I have a domain (the alexa info for it is linked above), to me those numbers seem way over-inflated. So, either I'm sitting on a gold mine and just don't know it or those Alexa numbers are false. I'm hoping someone can shed some light on that for me.

I just hosted the domain on another account that I already had (it allows me to host two domains). But, I figured it would give me seperate web stats for each domain, however it doesn't seem like it's going to do that.

I never trust Alexa numbers. Go with Google Analytics - it is more accurate.
