Transfers out of GoDaddy

Just been going through my renewal dates & have come across a name that is meant to auto-renew with Godaddy tomorrow. I know, I should've been keeping better track of my renewals but, these 5 names are meant to auto-renew tomorrow, but I'd prefer to transfer them out to Name.com as they are a lot cheaper.

I know that usually it can take up to 6 days for a transfer to complete but do you think that there is any possibility of the transfer succeeding if I cancel the auto-renew or would it be a waste of time to bother trying?

If the domains are not worth for a RISK, take a chance and carry on with the transfer.

If the domains are real worth, renew this year with Godaddy and then think of transferring.

By that time, may be your thoughts change too of transferring

The names are not something that special so I'm not that concerned, but I was wondering if anyone here has actually done something like this before with the transfer being successful.

According to ICANN, registrars are no longer permitted to block a transfer because the domain has expired. So. If GoDaddy block it, you should complain to GD that it's against ICANN policies.
