Transferring away from GoDaddy

GoDaddy sets a 60 day lock on transfers after registrant change (e.g. after a domain purchase). In my case, this will bring the domain past expiry date. Hence my question: does GoDaddy release domains if transfer is initiated after expiry day, but within the grace period?

You need to contact Godaddy to find out how much grace period they will give you. It varies per account.

past the expiry dates, it gets tricky with gd.. call them to find out exactly what they are for your specific domain. on any registrars try not to wait to close to 40day past expiry to get it all transfered out, and then transfered into new place.
