I have a name registered through directi.

I want to transfer the name to someone else, they use namecheap.

They went to their namecheap account and requested the transfer of the name.

Now, I think what happens is that namecheap is supposed to email me (as the domains admin) and ask for permission for the transfer. I give permission and they transfer it over.

But I haven't gotten the email from namecheap (been about 8 hrs).

Does it take a while, or has something gone wrong?

You need to check the Registrant information before starting any transfer.
If you have a wrong email address from the Who Is record - you then will never receive the email.

Hi John,

Checked that, and the email address on the whois is correct. Checked my spamfilter, not there either.

Should I expect to have received the email by now? I thought it would be immeadiate.

It does take 3-7 days for the whole transfer process. You may get the email in the next day or two. It's all different from Registrar to Registrar.

It might take a while. Give Namecheap 24-48 hours to email you for approval.

Make sure you unlocked the name, also.
