Did I understand it correctly that the auction "continues in the hall" so that almost any name can sell at its reserve price if you approach the auctioneer?
If so, Boo-hiss.
If not, I must have misunderstood horribly.

I don't think this will go over well.....Man, I wish I was there

Jeez, the room couldn't be rented for another hour extra or so?
This is awful!

It's certainly not going over well with me right now.

I do not agree.

The booked the hall (what is pretty expensive) and when they have to leave
they have to leave. They did the best they could and keep in mind that
going on longer then so many hours would not be good for the bids.

People have to clear there mind now and see what all happend.
Its exciting at the start but, after so many hours you do can get tired.

(also i think that Moniker would extent the time if they could)

I think Moniker did a good job and perhaps they can install a webcam
next time and filter the domain names a bit more.

Maybe they'll continue broadcasting from the hallway?

Oh well, all in all it wasn't a bad auction. Some names could've gone a lot higher, but that's to be expected I guess.

P.S. - That hallway idea was not a good idea at all. :imho:

Monte is a very bright guy, I don't know why he didn't learn from the previous Traffic auction - they had a similar time issue in the second half.

I have about 95% of the auction info including paddle #'s and pass bids. I'll publish later tonight. I'll be calling it out from my hallway as my wife is kicking me out of the livingroom

well, with all the SMART people involved (this is not their first time doing this btw) they should have been able to get the room an hour longer or break it up...etc

"expensive" give me a break

The question now is, "What will happen in the hallway?" :-/

Bad idea, from what I'm seeing this could result in some low sales.

You can't just go around staying longer than you reserved. Any person who rents places such as halls, conference rooms, etc.... knows this. If anything the issue would be having too many names for a short session.

Either it should have been started earlier, done in multiple sessions, or be more selective.

If there was someone wanting your name, they would have probably called it out.

Maybe with the number of names, they should make it a day and a half auction, or something like that. Give it the time it deserves.

As Allan said, a fire sale may be ongoing on where the auctioneer is just giving out reserve prices. If this is the case, I'm not pleased.

My calculations with 4 mill + sold gives the organisers $600K + - not bad for a complete cock up!

Pretty damn poor - and yes I had a name that did not get on the block so I am well peed!

They could break it up but that would loose the pace of the auction.
Also, if they knew it would take so long they would take the room for a
longer period of time. (incl. staff etc.. etc..)

Do note that it is in Moniker best interest to do the best they can.

I think its easy for us her to say that is a new low etc... but, i think some
credit should go out for the people who make this possible! IMHO

Yes....but continue things in the hallway? I'm just not sure that that is such a great alternative to putting the remaining names up for silent auctions.

You obviously didn't have a name Moniker didn't get to.

soooo, moving to the hall doesnt break up the pace?

we can agrue all night but an event this size with this much money pouring out should have had the room until midnight....Trump would say "your fired"

I can understand the frustration but, I think we should not bring down
the organisation or complete auction for this.

I am sure that if they could they would extend or find another solution.
