Thanks allot scandi and dagersh!

Ive checked it out no trademark, which i found a bit weird.

I checked UK as well on patent.gov.uk and didnt find any trademark either.

Ive bought dreamticket.mobi and dreamtickets.mobi

Now hope they find out!

If i would contact them then would there be a problem as in trademark infringement? or bad faith purchase of this name??

Or should i just sit down and wait for them?

I'd say just sit on it and wait. No sense tempting fate, since it seems like a borderline case.

Ditto. They may sue you and loose, but can you afford the legal fees?

question, out of curiosity, i did basic search and typed in "sportsbook" and i saw the .com, .net, & .tv registered, so the guy that registered .mobi was obviously safe when he registered .mobi since i'm just gonna the buyer was the owner of .com???

"Sportsbook" is a generic term, so he was safe registering that. "DreamTicket" is not generic, which is why it's not so clear cut.

Interestingly, "Sportbook" IS trademarked...as a variation of the generic version, I guess it's not a true generic and can therefore be trademarked.

Safe from getting sued, no. Safe from loosing in court, probably.

good point about sportbook, i noticed that as well.

Will just sit back and hold it.

i will refrain from taking other names as otherwise there will be a link.
And obviously my plan is to develop the sites, not lose them.

For all the members who left a response before this post, check your posts as I have sent you a 2 possible good .mobi purchases still available.
This applies to agent06, scandi and jagersh.

Goodluck. I would advice to only take one of the two so there is no link.

Many Thanks,

so just 2 clarify everything "sportbook" is a trademark name, but "sportbook.mobi" wasn't trademarked, so the person that registered the .mobi is safe then right?

or another example of "sportbook.com" gets trademarked so "sportbook.mobi" is safe 2 register?

I know it's not advisable 2 registed company .mobi names like circuit city , alright thanks 4 the help guys.

sportbook is different from sportsbook.

Define "safe to register." Nothing prevents the other guy from trying to sue you. Regardless of whether or not he wins, you will be out legal fees. That is the risk you take if you want to hold and use the name. Otherwise you decide if you want to surrender the name if you get attacked by the other guys lawyers.

safe to register = as in not being at risk of being sued for no valid reason other than the guy claiming he owns the right's to the name since he trademarked it as either just "sportbook" or "sportbook.com"

Herein lies the problem. We don't get to decide the validity of the claim, that is up to a judge or arbitration panel. When you cut it close as in your example you are assuming a certain amount of risk that things might get ugly.
