Hi Everyone,

I am new to this but was curious if someone can give me some insight to trademark issues when registering names. I have registered a domain which is a generic two word name but there is a company that shares one of the words in their name and the second word is related to the services they offer.

Even though it is a generic term should I be worried about them coming after me for the name. Would it be ok to email them offering to sell the name?

I know this is vague and maybe a bit confusing but thanks for any advise that you might have.

Sandy

I wouldnt, though you may be able to keep the domain without problems, alerting the company to the site would possibly incur penalties. If they wanted your domain they could take it, as its their trademark, and wouldnt have to purchase it from you.

Whatever you do dont contact them as mentioned above. Secondly, would an example being something like: a company named redwing mailing service and your domain would be redwingmailing.com??

Sorry for the cheesy example :)
