I recently sold a domain that I thought was a generic keyword domain...which it is generic however, there is a US Trademark on it. The buyer, from UK emailed me and told me its useless to him but there is not trademark on it in the UK.

Is it really useless to him? If it were a famous trademark like apple or amazon or ebay, maybe it would be, but for a generic keyword that is registered in every extension and many of them have active websites with similar content, should he be worried?

I'm just curious, so I can respond to his claims that I knew it was trademarked when I sold it even though I had no idea because like I said, it was so generic I never bothered to check.

Thanks,
Eric

When I deal with people directly, I do sign an agreement, where I say, that I am not aware of the legal issues pertaining to the name at the current time - that protects me.
