.tv To reg or not to reg!?

Hey all. I'm not a big .tv investor, have about 9 so far, and I don't like to reg names, just to reg names! However I'd like some advice from you more experienced .TVer's. I found a 'loan' name that is regged in 'every' extension except .TV. I happen to own the .org version and it does so-so for hits and parking revenue. My question is, is it worth regging this name as - 1) it is the only open extension left, and 2) is it worth regging a 'loan' related name in the .TV extension?? Do they sell, and/or are they visited and user worthy domains. Your thoughts and advice is appreciated.

Sorry i dont know much about 'Loans' .tv's value or past sales but i thought id share some interesting info from a UK point of view.

I dont know how it is outside the UK but here we constantly get TV advertisements for 'Loan' 'Bad debt' 'debt consolidation' over and over all day and in the past few months i have noticed a large % of these companies use a .tv domain on their TV ads.

I keep meaning to take a note of the actual domain names but havent yet, anyway hope that little bit of info could help (a little)

Here is some developed websites for "Loans" in .tv:
YesLoans.tv
Uk-Loans.tv
CheapLoan.tv

Best of Luck.

Brings up a good point. Same here in the US, but not so much on bad credit as DiTech low interest mortgages. I was in the mortgage industry myself and I kinda watch this sector. There is definitely an aggressively competitive market and they have moved from regional to national profiles especially the aggressive "discount" lender/broker, hand in hand with aggressive recruitment of borrowing money (online and discount access to stocks/bonds/mutual funds). I don't see money lending to individuals becoming international, but should expand nationally. ALso see LOTS of these adds online, esp for cheap mortgage rates. FYI sub-prime (poor credit) lending in the US is underwater right and a tough/shrinking market due to bad loans and defaults recently.

On your other point, we should all try to post whenever we see or hear a .TV advertised.

I've heard a few radio ads for MLB.TV here in my area on local radio stations (Nothern Louisiana, US).

I'll pay closer attention and post any more I hear.

I agree 100%, excellent name that i am sure 100's of loan companies would want.

Well done, great find at reg fee.

something awry there. i own cheaploan.tv and i couldn't develop my way out a paper bag

lol, Sorry it was CheapLoanS.tv i meant

Since reading this thread i have done a fair bit of research on .tv usage in the Finance, Loans, Credit Cards, Bad Debt... sector and i am amazed at the number of developed sites including a large number that advertise heavily on TV & the internet.

I wonder why this sector chose to use .tv so much as this sector is not one that screams out "Use a .tv!"
With this sector using .tv so much then i guess its good news to others who have bought decent keyword domains in other sectors where people have said "What does that have to do with TV/Video"

Here is few more developed .tv's in the Loans, Credit.....etc sectors i found:
bestmortgagerates.tv/
www.fastfunding.tv
www.moneyshop.tv
www.problemremortgage.tv
www.badcreditloan.tv/

I could go on all day listing these as i got a bit carried away :hehe:

I may go try hunt down a few keyword,2 word .tv's in the Loans area (& related sectors) now.

** Sorry for hijacking the thread, i got typing about this sector and got carried away, Best of Luck anyway with your buy**

This sector likes .TV extensions because they are expanding into national markets as I explained above. At one time almost all home loans, etc. were from branch banks (local town banks). No longer. Large, discount loan companies are trying to lure customers away from local banks with better rates. Complex legal difference from state to state discourages small companies from lending in all but one or a few neighboring states in the US.

Now these companies are large enough to deal with this (except for a few states, usually exempted from the offer). It's just the natural progression, like average American now buying stocks and bonds online, large companies offering online banking, etc...

The companies using and developing loan sites are aggressively marketing nationwide and the internet allows them the feedback channel needed to gather all the customer's data and do this type of business with the average consumer at a distance.

At one time, these companies heavily marketed refi's etc. by telemarketing. Recent laws in the US have severely curtailed interstate telemarketing of loan (and other) products.

It is the confluence of Online (internet) lending and the Nationalization of aggressive (TV ads) lending companies. We all know Internet+TV = DOT.TV!

(although it's actually more along the lines of "as seen on tv", rather than streaming content online, the lending companies don't know/care they are just looking for a good keyword domain people watching tv can remember)

Hmm very interesting stuff here. I really didn't think that a 'loan' name would be a good fit with the .tv extension, but I don't think the extension is what matters to these type of site owners. I don't see these sites relating their sites to any 'tv' or video types of usage for pushing their wares. It seems to appear they are more interested in having a good related keyword domain that applies to their business than what the extension is. I even think in some fields this may be more prevelent than others too, like loans, realestate, credit cards etc. This could end up being a good reg here. Appreciate the info all.
