Tick.com no longer a "Top Domain" according to Sedo

My Domain Tick.com had been listed on Sedo as a "Top Domain" for a few months but it has now been dropped - their reason for dropping it is that it's "not a good fit" for them any more. All the stranger as they recently offered to broker it for me for a very large amount of money.

What do you think - fair cop or not?

Without (MUCH) bias or bitterness it beats me how the following domains for example are considered by Sedo as "Top Domains" where the likes of Tick.com isn't...

freewebsite.com
instants.com
spicedrum.com
augs.com
severity.com
onlinebidding.com
raging.com
fewo.com
etc.

https://sedo.com/search/?special_inventory=1&language=us&rel=4#

Oh well I'm sure I'm not the only one who's had this frustrating experience with Sedo! Thanks, Martin

Stock Market, Time. The bug would be the last thing to use with it even though would be a great site for that too

Dumb not to have it in top domains Sedo

I think Sedo believes it needs a toc at the end. lol

Thanks. Yep, forget the word 'native' - I should have just wrote "...the bulk of English speakers aren’t American".

Although according to the UK government you're wrong by some margin on your quote that native English is limited to 2 countries - https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/international/english-speaking-countries

If bulk = number of countries, I am wrong. But I thought you meant the word bulk = population, no? If so, I am correct, that entire list of countries populations all added together does not equal 330 million in the US. If you want to open it up you might want to add up India and Pakistan as ESL then you would exceed the US population. St Kitts and Nevis is 54,000 people.

I obviously forgot and left out Australia, New Zealand and Canada are ~65 million combined.

Use something like KWfinder and SERP results to locate similar words for search volume on watches, clocks and lyme disease and search terms, you can find some new ideas of who and where to target. It’s rare to find a LLLL exact match like that, nice investment. Hope you sell it for good money.

Just for reference, approx. 20% of the world's population speak English (1.5 billion), which is significantly more than the number of people in the US who speak it (I read that's approx. 230 million).

And prepare for private sale. As this kind of sale usually are private purchase. Only care auction etc. if you want resale price. By the way may be US is the country of majority of native speaker. But UK English is international. Example if any student in India write US spelling in exam, teacher will mark it "X" and award 0 marks. (Though those teachers uses US spelling also when private communication.)

4 letter pronounceable English dictionary meaning "a mark (✓) used to indicate that an item in a list or text is correct or has been chosen, checked, or dealt with" and the ✓ is due to WA probably the most viewed sign on the planet.

But some people think it's not a top domain.

JumpRope.com sells for $200,000:

"Great name, decent price"

lolz

@ShenleyAvenue (Martin),

You're probably better off anyway. Sedo are experts at selling premium names for cheap. Just ask the previous owner of CAN.com.

Yes, I was shocked at how much (little) that sold for.

Hi @ShenleyAvenue , congrats on owning such domain!
Tick is a top name with or without Sedo's "seal of approval", don't stress too much as they probably rotate the top domains on their marketplace.

Just leave it listed at Sedo, list it with Afternic and setup a proper landing page (Undeveloped landing pages are beautiful). Get rid of the other domains listed on its landing page as they are obviously inferior and don't help you in any way (just add the .net and .co.uk in case someone wants to get them as a package).

Hope this helps

FWIW, anti " tick " ads are again seasonally appearing in TV and print advertisements as Spring weather brings out the nefarious creatures.

The " tick " ads are primarily associated with the domestic pet population although also of note, human medicine too has a research / treatment focus on tick-bourne diseases.

IMO " tick " would have it's strongest potential sales impact somewhere in the pet / human medical related fields rather than luxury timepieces.

Surely consider the name a top level name that should remain visible to a potential purchaser by all means possible.

Thanks. As previously mentioned, outside the US the term 'tick' is much more widely used with reference to the tick symbol, time, and to stock movements, rather than to the pesky insect - that said I'd be an idiot not to market it to as many industries as poss.

US is another English speaking country hence US meaning matters too. However US dictionaries is showing tick symbol as first entry.

www.tickmedia.com

Looking at what brands they work for, and being an advertising agency, I'm pretty sure they have the money for your name, as well as interest for your domain.

There are others too.
