Tick.com no longer a "Top Domain" according to Sedo

My Domain Tick.com had been listed on Sedo as a "Top Domain" for a few months but it has now been dropped - their reason for dropping it is that it's "not a good fit" for them any more. All the stranger as they recently offered to broker it for me for a very large amount of money.

What do you think - fair cop or not?

Without (MUCH) bias or bitterness it beats me how the following domains for example are considered by Sedo as "Top Domains" where the likes of Tick.com isn't...

freewebsite.com
instants.com
spicedrum.com
augs.com
severity.com
onlinebidding.com
raging.com
fewo.com
etc.

https://sedo.com/search/?special_inventory=1&language=us&rel=4#

Oh well I'm sure I'm not the only one who's had this frustrating experience with Sedo! Thanks, Martin

Looking at what brands they work for, and being an advertising agency, I'm pretty sure they have the money for your name, as well as interest for your domain.

There are others too.
Thanks, kind of you

The domain is good and speaks for itself. So do we need an endorsement even if it comes from Sedo... ? Imho™

I'm pretty sure I bid on Tick once..... I cannot seem to find it though.

First thing I thought of was a unit of measurement, as in time.

4 letter pronounceable English dictionary meaning "a mark (✓) used to indicate that an item in a list or text is correct or has been chosen, checked, or dealt with" and the ✓ is due to WA probably the most viewed sign on the planet.

But some people think it's not a top domain.

JumpRope.com sells for $200,000:

"Great name, decent price"

lolz
And what business would want to be called “tick”

Hi Kate, if your bid was thru Sedo then it might have been deleted when they moved the domain from 'top domain' status, as all previous bids on it were. Strange system they operate! Martin

Um they own the perfect domains already and have absolutely no use for this domain.
IKEA.com 3m.com Nike.com lego.com Sony.com why would they want tick.com
You misunderstand. You asked what business would want to be called "tick" to which I replied businesses LIKE Lego, Nike, etc. i.e. having a 'short, catchy and unusual-sounding' name is no hinderance to the success of a business, quite the contrary in my opinion.

Naturally, however, if don't like the word tick because you can't sufficiently disassociate it with its secondary meaning relating to the annoying insect then of course that's fine.

No ...but the point was for me to rant about their odd domain marketing system! 😀

This is a very very good domain name. In my opinion you have every right to ask for and expect min 6 figures. Not sure why nobody has suggested a brand for insurance or loans and such either.

It may also be worth legally changing your name to Mike Mann. You'll probably get 7 figures then. (Just kidding...).

😊 Cheers Dave, I hadn’t thought of insurance or loans - but they’d work very well cos of the common informal use of “tick” to mean money lending (in the UK at least!).

I can't think of another niche whereby filling out a form requires so many 'ticks' on boxes. :) Also, a tick represents a successful loan or insurance application.
