I really don't care much about four character domains but I decided to do a search. As I expected, everything was junk except for one domain that happened to be a very common three letter english word plus the number 3.

Since I've been making a lot of $9 experiments lately I thought 'why not' and picked it up. In general, does something like this have any value?

3 Words means BOT3 .com ??
Do they get sold, yes sometimes, Will they get sold for sure, no, maybe.
And why are you spending $9 there are many godaddy coupons which can save your 7$-8$ use them and please save your money.

If you can spend 9$ on LLLN, just go on godaddy closeout domain section and you might find 4 character domains selling for 5$- $9. I have got few from that place, I flipped one of that for $45, had brought that for $12.

Don't like godaddy, their gimmicks, or their history of yanking domains at the drop of a hat. My goal is not hundreds of little flips where the difference between a $9 reg and a $2 reg would matter to me.

1 rule in domaining is to save money where ever possible.
Use your money wisely. There is no coming back.
If your goal is long term, and you want to convert that $9 domain to $9000, then too dont buy LLLN domains they wont sell at all for even $0.9.
Sorry for the reality check.
Buy domains which can be used in the future. Do research, there is a vast pool of domains still waiting to get regged but not any LLLN .coms.

Can you provide us the name of domain that you regged. It might be worth $1000's or $2000's. you never know.

I dont know what godaddy has done wrong to you or what gimmicks you are talking about. But godaddy is the the top and trusted registrar so far and they provide the cheapest dot com's around.

All said, Its up to u to decide.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I'm new to the site, not new to the internet business. I've been in it for 19 years.

You may have a different business plan than me. If it works for you to register a bunch of domains for $2 and sell them for $40, great. In the time it takes to find the domain, get the coupons, deal with godaddy's foolishness, find a buyer, cut a deal, collect payment, and deal with the transfer - I can make a lot more money in my regular job. It's not worth it to me.

If I get to the point where a $6 or $7 (or less with whois privacy costs) difference in domain registration makes the the difference in whether I register a domain or not, I'm not going to register the domain.

As I said, I don't really care about LLLL, LLNN, LLNL or whatever permutations there may be. But I did a quick search, saw a very common english word in one and decided to throw $9 to a registrar that didn't support SOPA, shut down seclists, and didn't nearly shut down weebly.com because one person called them to complain about the site.

For most, $0 to little (e.g, bun3, alp3, bib3, den3). There are some examples that might be worth more. For instance get3.com on sedo has had several offers. There is probably a bit of value to .coms such as big3, buy3, and all3. It would be very difficult to find a buyer for these though.
