This May Sound Stupid - Should The United States Create A New Dept That Monitor

Should the United States Government create a new department that will be responible for overseeing the internet (communication, services, voip, domain sells, registration, securities, etc)

What do you think, just a thought

I doubt it would end up right, either they would be in total control and take away people's freedoms or they would do nearly nothing.

Isn't there already a communications department?
It seems to me the US government has already grown tremendously in recent years. I think it's time to start trimming and becoming more efficient rather than creating more new departments.

I don't think so. Number one, I just don't see such an department being much more than a heated battleground and I don't think it's really necessary. Number two, the government already is pretty large, don't think we need to add to it when there are agencies already that can cover this.

I agree with all the comments. However, I think this proposed department may generate trillions of dollars for the US gov, which in turn will help reduce our taxes and get the government out of the red.

not only taxes it'll add more security in the business... like no more scammers ... you get in trouble if you scam etc

though the disadvantage is we loose our freedom ... have to live by another guidelines ...

1- Too slow...
2- too much man power
3- they can still track anything, anywhere they want to as long as we are plugged on to the internet, they can always monitor, and we are not aware of what they may laready be doing

4-Ask the people who have similar setups in their countries, they will very much want you to experience it

Well the US gov is already in our business, one more won't hurt. Who knows, they might just create the department and make the whole world pay tax to the US

I think there must be some one monetering the internet cuz search the internet all what u see is sites puttings some ads on them ( like parked domains)
i guess no one like these sites exept there owners
Also there must be control on programs download sites
every time i download a software other from download.com and such good sites my computer will be down( although i have internet security enabled
