This isn't right...

I need some advice please.
I ordered the name Insurance.im from www.nic.im on 6 July 2006. It was approved online and then approved by email with an attached invoice. It showed up in my account manager and also in a whois search.

But today it was taken from me and I got this email:

The domain name listed below has been withdrawn from service by the Isle of Man Government in accordance with the terms and conditions of the '.im' domain.

insurance.im Rejected

If you wish to discuss the reason fhe domain has been withdrawn please contact [email protected]

Should a refund be due the nic.im administration team will be in touch in due course.

If you have not done so already, please make sure you are familiar with the Terms and Conditions associated with the '.im' domain - details are available at http://www.nic.im


This was the approval email with attached Invoice:

Thank you for applying for the '.im' domain names listed below.

insurance.im ApprovedAny domain name(s) shown as 'Approved' above have now been registered
and are ready for use. Any domain name(s) shown as 'Referred' are
awaiting the decision of the Isle of Man Government who normally make a
decision within three working days.

Credit card details were taken at the time of application. Your card has
now been debited for any domains marked as 'Approved' above. Should your
application for Referred domains be successful, these charges will be
debited from your card in due course.

An invoice for any Approved domains is attached to this E-Mail; invoices
for Referred domains will be sent subsequently should the applications
be accepted.

How can I buy a name and it be approved with a sales invoice and then they take it back? This is bullcrap...

They did say in their TOS and other places that the domain may be rejected if it is related to the government in some way or if it is an obscene word (for example... p*ssy.im).

They have the right to do this, so they should give you a refund.

I am not an attorney but have read and re-read the terms and don't see how they can do this. Can you quote me where you read that? Not the obscene part because that does not apply in this case....


I tried sending them an email at the recommended address and it bounces back... [email protected]
