Have you been to some of these other forums lately. Holy crap talk about required posts just to have a sig, required days, blood sample, urine, you name it. What ever happened to your reward of a sig space being yours just for contributing on the forum. There lucky they get posts at all let alone to put limits on stuff. Like a new guy really wants to upgrade with paypal his first day to read some threads. come on now. Who's the real newbie there. Money hungry people made forums go tho crap these days.

I'm pretty sure there is a minimum post count you need to reach to have a signature - I don't think it's high though.

Although I could be wrong - I often am. :]

Well, usually you get involved in a forum to express yourself and read others opinion, not for sig space, spam just to get only one backlink. Since namepros is a business form too, you may buy/sell you domain names.
Other forums wants to have a very selected group of users (members) so they apply fees, in the same moment they think they are offering a better service.
This is just a way to manage a forum, nothing special. If you think those fee are too much for the service they offer, just ignore that forum
