So I got a response for a domain I'm selling for mid xxx$:
\\\\
I thought about it, but then I realized that normal photographers like myself.... The hardworking small business woman... Are being totally ripped off by you guys.

I should be able to pay a small fee per year, not this ridiculous amount because you bought up all the good names! So no thank you. Go open up a meaningful business that actually helps people.
\\\\\\\\
Well what should I respond to this?

I thought about it.
I realized that the normal consumers like myself, hardworking men and women, are totally ripped off by you, photographers.

I should be able to just hand over my iphone to any bystander and get my photographs free and not pay the ridiculous fees because you bought some cameras and gadgets. Go please open some meaningful and useful business that actually helps the society, people would be just fine with taking selfies.

Not worth responding to really. You are not going to change her mind.

You could make a comparison to real estate and how all of the prime locations are bought up as well. Should you be able to rent a storefront on Rodeo Drive for the same price as one in a rural town? Are the people that bought those locations also not in a meaningful business?

Anyone can buy a digital camera for $35 and take a picture. Does that mean she isn't in a meaningful business? I bet she charges a lot more for her services?

I wouldn't bother with a response.

I would let her know that you are also a hardworking small business owner, and that you are not trying to rip anybody off. It's just business...

Then give her a proposal (maybe high $XX to low $XXX) to lease the domain from you on a yearly basis as she stated she would prefer.

Good answers all round here. It's just business and she doesn't understand it. The world keeps spinning and we keep selling domains. I'd reply with...

So I'll put you down as a maybe....?

Having an attractive domain name is a privilege, not a right.

In all seriousness, I think domain investors do provide a useful service. Without them, many great potential names would be already used for crappy dead projects, personal pages that never update etc. They kind of reserved good brands for good projects that should be able to afford them. The better the project, the more it should be able to afford and the better name it would get.

Why does this lady assume that the name would still be available for her to hand reg and not registered and used up by another person for a dead project?

That person is bitter and angry because all the domains of her choice are already taken. She is venting on you out of frustration. The best course of action is to leave her alone and move on. Your next response could aggravate her...
I have had similar experience in the past. I just laughed it off and never looked back. :)

"You think you are righteous but you are really quite prejudiced.

Just because something is online doesn't mean it is for free. It is a very common misconception and I feel sad on your behalf, as you won't be able to position yourself in the new economy with an attitude like that.

Someone else will see the value and purchase this name, but I do hope you to will stop believing things of value will ever be for free (or available for a small fee)."

haha I'm also a photographer and videographer, she misunderstands her "talent" is limited by how many customers can find her. Don't bother replying, she could vindictively ruin your business with a negative review or something worse. Mark her email as spam and forget it.

Well what should I respond to this?

If your domain is boarder regfee You dont reply

If your domain has quality and you still want to work with her and close the deal, you should be able to defend your domain.

But you can decider she doesn't want to talk to you again.

This is the world of cold calling people. Good Luck

Some people think its unfair and wrong for Paypal to charge transaction fees. They havent contributed anything to the creation and marketing of products yet they take a cut off payments made to your Paypal account.

She's a photographer. Tell her to get creative. No one is forcing her to buy the name...
