If you find a business or person using a new GTLD domain for something interesting or for something profitable, please do share the URL here.

How businesses are using new extensions could hint at which ones could gain popularity in the future. If not a hint of anything special, it's still interesting to see the growing trends in usage.

This article says that 80% of new GTLDs are in fact parked or inactive.
http://www.thedomains.com/2014/08/18/ntldstats-80-of-all-new-gtlds-are-parked-buzz-has-the-least/

This article explains more statistics on the usage of new GTLDs.

P.S. You can search for domains with a particular extension by using "site:.extension".

Example: "site:.tips" will find all the sites in Google's index with a .tips extension.

Cheers!

Would a web directory of active new gTLD websites help? (I wrote that rather long reply explaining the methodology of web usage surveys on CircleID, BTW. :) )

Regards...jmcc

I think the idea of a web directory will be obsolete after a year or two, when some of the ngTLDs are in (more) common usage. It won't be long before this post will seem kind of ridiculous...if not already, because there are or will be hundreds of new sites sprouting up regularly on ngTLDs....

I'm no pscychic, and of course the a lot of anti-new GTLD members of this forum are probably laughing...and they may be right, but I think that it's inevitable that some extensions will become more widely used and recognized by the general public.....especially extensions like .Today, .Tips, .Link, .Center, .Guru, .expert, .photography, .club, .directory and .company.

When that happens, it will look as ridiculous as a directory of .biz, .me and .info websites. But for now, I would guess that it's a reasonable idea....for curiosity reasons....that's why I started this thread anyway....

Actully @David Walker ...even though she doesn't appear to be using any kind of affiliate marketing or banners, these kind of blogs have been extremely lucrative for others. I couldn't care less about what the blog is about, but because I blog I found this quite interesting.

Coincidentally, I recently saw this article on CNN.com last night about fashion bloggers making 6 figures.

http://edition.cnn.com/2014/10/01/world/europe/bloggers-six-figure-salaries/index.html?hpt=hp_c4

While the people who appear to want to spew negativity in this thread will continue to troll and whine about new GTLDs, I'll continue to post a variety of usage of new GTLDs because it's inspiring to those who like them - seeing the usage of the keyword and extensions and how some may use them for branding....It's interesting and if someone doesn't relate (for their own, slow and closed minded reasons), that's their own business lol...

I'll continue to post examples of people using new GTLDs who are about the bottom line ($$$$) and who are making good use of it for non-profit ideas....

Cheers buddy!

And it's interesting @David Walker that you would support someone calling a woman a whore (with a like) because she has a blog about shoes. Being that you're a moderator around here, you should set an example for the kind of behavior that is acceptable around here. I thought this was supposed to be a place where all genders are respected? Is this the kind of forum where women are called whores for taking interest in feminine subjects? Is this the way you welcome the female members of this forum? Are you the owner of this forum? What kind of moderator are you?

Are you lacking sleep or something??? Wake up! You just liked a post calling a woman a whore because she has a shoe blog...

Wow, so many compelling websites.
The new Internet is finally coming after all :)

I have bookmarked all of them, and I will of course visit every day or so. I know you will do the same.

If you don't get the point of the thread or if you don't like new GTLDs, please feel free to wonder around mumbling meaningless little comments to yourself here and there and every now and then, in case you want to feel relevant to a conversation that you're not really interested in. It just makes you look like an really sophisticated gentleman lol....

No, I am not the owner of this forum and did not support the ideal of womanizing. I am married, though did find that particular blog interesting on two levels.

Addressing your first concern about the terminology that was used against women who post selfies: it was derogatory as not all images crossed the line into sexually explicit material (if at all, as if that would aloneclassify someoneas one, only opinions can be made).

Secondly, I would like to mention that not only women are into selfies. Men; even my Marine buddies, post them all the time flexing in the mirror.

I find that selfies/shoes was a tad off (besides being a poor gTLD combo) as it focused more on the girls, than the shoes, as to my subtle remark about it being a nice page that can catch men's (and women's) attention on what would look good on their significant other (or themselves). A lot of married couples partake in this sort of mindset, and that is probably why they're not divorced.

This type of blogging can be monetized quite well, if done right (in this case, finding that specific pair of shoes in the picture to sell-if not, a general shoe affiliate that would accept that content).

And I did not even insinuate that the owner (or could care less) is female.

I am in the fashion niche as well with female writers. If I posted a bland dress on a white backdrop, it would get little to no attention from both sexes, even with quality content. Why? Simply because sex sells. Women want to be them and men want their women to have that look. It is profitable as mentioned. Though not 6 figure as I delve into many other niches as well.

Pre-Bob sellout of GoDaddy, even a registrar was NSFW (if at home with your wife over your shoulder). Did sex sell or did their competitive pricing?
