While PM Carney may be one of the key players, admittedly, the catalyst behind the global shift has been Trump's America First agenda, policies and practice. Trump hasn't learned from history nor is he capable of admitting that his ideas are wrong, a lesson that Europe understands and hopefully will never forget - the ideas that make it go bankrupt in more ways than one: fascism, nationalism, populism...

Justice Department announces a $1.7B fund to compensate Trump allies in a deal to drop IRS suit​

The Trump administration on Monday announced the creation a $1.7 billion fund to compensate allies of the Republican president who believe they were mistreated by the Biden administration Justice Department.

The “Anti-Weaponization Fund” was announced by the Justice Department as part of a deal to resolve President Donald Trump’s lawsuit against the Internal Revenue Service over the leak of his tax returns.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said in announcing the fund in a statement that it was “a lawful process for victims of lawfare and weaponization to be heard and seek redress.”

Democrats and government watchdogs immediately pledged to fight what they called a “corrupt” and unprecedented resolution, warning that the arrangement would unjustly enrich people close to the president with taxpayer dollars and open the door to meritless claims of political persecution.

So let me get this straight...

Trump refused to release his tax returns prior to election. A partial leak occurred revealing that he paid little to no taxes for years. Trump sued the US government for $10B, and DOJ settled for $1.776B. If correct, that's one helluva tax return IMO.

Europe is also steering away from Chinese manufacturers in order to develop domestic capacity, as a ban on Russian oil and gas comes into effect Jan 1, 2027, with some far-right politicians expressing dissent.

The point that Trump doesn't understand is... US didn't get to the top by itself, countries around the world enabled it.

Now Trump is using that hegemony as leverage to pressure nations to bend to his will, a classic predatory model, but not everyone complies with this tactic, nor are they willing to submit to his demands.
