Right. Please find one time in history when militia meant organized part of the Gov. #2A was explicit and shall not be infringed. In this context regulated just mean organized.

BTW if anyone is interested in learning more about the constitution ... you're a geek! JK - there are some great courses thorugh top universities that you can take free online if you're not doing it for credit. I started one last summer - I think it was through Yale - got through the Bill of Rights, then got too busy to keep up. But it was excellent -might jump in on another session to pick up where I left off...

The Coyote Principle
CALIFORNIA
โ€ข The Governor of California is jogging with his dog along a nature trail. A coyote jumps out and attacks the Governor's dog, then bites the Governor.
โ€ข The Governor starts to intervene, but reflects upon the movie "Bambi" and then realizes he should stop because the coyote is only doing what is natural.
โ€ข He calls animal control. Animal Control captures the coyote and bills the state $200 testing it for diseases and $500 for relocating it.
โ€ข He calls a veterinarian. The vet collects the dead dog and bills the State $200 testing it for diseases.
โ€ข The Governor goes to hospital and spends $3,500 getting checked for diseases from the coyote and on getting his bite wound bandaged.
โ€ข The running trail gets shut down for 6 months while Fish & Game conducts a $100,000 survey to make sure the area is now free of dangerous animals.
โ€ข The Governor spends $50,000 in state funds implementing a "coyote awareness program" for residents of the area.
โ€ข The State Legislature spends $2 million to study how to better treat rabies and how to permanently eradicate the disease throughout the world.
โ€ข The Governor's security agent is fired for not stopping the attack. The state spends $150,000 to hire and train a new agent with additional special training for the nature of coyotes.
โ€ข PETA protests the coyote's relocation and files a $5 million suit against the state.

TEXAS
โ€ข The Governor of Texas is jogging with his dog along a nature trail. A coyote jumps out and attacks his dog.
โ€ข The Governor shoots the coyote with his state-issued pistol and keeps jogging. The Governor has spent $.50 on a .45 ACP hollow point cartridge.
โ€ข The buzzards eat the dead coyote.

And that, my friends, is why California is broke and Texas is not.

Thanks. Actually I had seen this Hitchens Video several years ago. I'm sure he would have added a number of new worrying facts about the UK + Europe + the Religion of Peace, if he was still alive today.

Nobody can argue that History shows citizens unable to protective themselves from their own government, lose. Armenians in Turkey, Ukranians in USSR, Chinese, Germany, etc. The propaganda and hysteria is fueled over and over by the mass media each time a shooting occurs, the argument will never go away.

Whiskey Rebellion
Trail of Tears
Nat Turner
Dorr's Rebellion
Draft Riots
Wounded Knee
Blair Mountain (WV coal wars)
Japanese / American internment camps
Branch Davidians
Ruby Ridge

Howโ€™d those work out?

If the government really wants your ass, an armed citizenry isnโ€™t gonna stop them. Never worked - even back when everyone had the same weapons.

Turkey, USSR, Germany in the 1940s, China - hmm, what do these countries have in common? Maybe the key is not to allow a government whose leaders would arbitrarily kill off a group of their own citizens?

That's an editorial opinion, not historical precedent. I don't have the quotes in front of me but the authors of the Constitution were clear in their own writings and letters, #2A was a protection for individuals.

1) The Constitution doesn't grant rights to citizens, it restricts Gov from infringing on natural rights endowed by our Creator. That is what makes America exceptional, personal liberty.

2) The #2A, like every other amendment, protects an individuals rights.

Worked in America. Worked in MX. Worked in FR., Worked on Pandora!

Worked in Oregon. Worked in Nevada.

China was a marxist revolution so was the USSR.. Citizens had guns until the marxist took OVER.

Japanese were unarmed and didn't resist. Ruby Ridge was the Gov against a single family. You can't hand pick unrelated situation and declare the whole thing the same.

Pretty sure Nat Turner was an AU criminal?

Trail of tears happened b/c the Indians didn't have military grade guns and tribes didn't stay together. Perfect argument AGAINST gun control.

It's not an "editorial", its a historical overview of the amendment. There are historical references in the first part of that page - the other two pages are more interpretive in content.
History of the amendments and implementation is cited liberally throughout Heller. Read it. Read the dissenting opinions too. Nobody says it wasn't originally INTENDED to apply to organized state militias, however the wording was interpreted to apply to individuals as well by the 5-4 majority in that ruling.
Even SCOTUS decisions are individual interpretations of facts.

That is the problem with anti-gun arguments, authors have to ignore historical precedent and hand pick outliers to support their case.

Heller affirmed the individual right to bear arms.. shall not be infringed. But recognized like every other right, there are limits for public safety.

Calling the Coast Guard a militia is like calling the Navy or Army militia because revolutionaries enlisted for service.

How To Tell If Someone Doesn't Really Care About Preventing Mass Shootings

TL;DR
Whatever you think of that organization (NRA), it had absolutely nothing to do with the massacre in Parkland, Florida. ... The NRA wasn't cowering outside while children were sprayed with bullets...

...but you cannot even begin to connect them (NRA) to this shooting without engaging in blatant lies and falsehoods. And if you are engaging in blatant lies and falsehoods on this issue, then I think it is safe to say that you don't really care at all about preventing mass shootings. You care about using them to your political advantage.

Hey dummies, teachers shouldn't be able to carry guns because rifles bullets "fly faster" than hand gun bullets. As opposed to no bullets.

We're supposed to believe teachers are too stupid / will be to scared to fight back but mentally damaged murder who wants revenge on peers wont run if someone shoots back.

Don't rely on yourself, rely on the police to stand in the parking lot.

Our fearless leader, who dodged the draft because of bone spurs, that fixed themselves after the war was over:

Florida school shooting: Trump says 'I would have run in unarmed'

Hopefully, there is a phone booth nearby so he can change from his suit, into the cape and tights.

This is what paying off Republicans gets you:

Georgia lieutenant governor threatens Delta after it cuts ties with NRA

"Georgia Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle (R) said Monday he would block any tax legislation that benefits Delta Airlines after the company ended its discount program for National Rifle Association (NRA) members.

โ€œI will kill any tax legislation that benefits @Delta unless the company changes its position and fully reinstates its relationship with @NRA. Corporations cannot attack conservatives and expect us not to fight back,โ€ Cagle tweeted."
