Looking at the historic chart of the DJI, it's gone up under every president. So, not to be bias here, Obama may have had an influence on the markets. Which policies those were, I'm unsure of to be honest.

However, you cannot dispute that the rally we've seen under Trump since November 9th (Hillary took a whole night off to wait and concede) has been the greatest and supersedes anything Obama could have had an influence on while in office.

The lowest point in the Obama administration was Mar 06, 2009 at 6,595.16. It took approximately 55 days until Apr 30, 2009 to regain, and maintain the average, of the 1463.69 points we saw under Trump's President-elect status, which I remind you, he has only held for 35 days.

Yes, we did see a rise in markets under Obama. A slow rise. However, it's indisputable thus far, that we haven't seen a rise under Trump, that probably will surpass Obama's over the next 4-8 years. This holds especially true when the DJI breaks the 20,000 under Trump; we will see a rally that will hold like no other (if history repeats and we see the same surge as we did at 1k, 2k, 5k, 10k, etc.).
Yep... we are quite aware about the Markets going through the roof since Trump won, but Democrats don't feel at ease to talk about it.

Nope. Just "it happened under Obama, too". Well, news flash: Markets have historically risen under Bush Jr., Clinton, Bush Sr., Reagan... as well. What we're going to see, is a stronger, and more vibrant, market than ever before โ€” under Trump.

Yep... I could be wrong but I believe that when Obama was elected the Markets dropped quite a few % points (6-8%), then slowly picked up, but like you say, with Trump they simply headed north. Then again we all know that one day the big market sharks will do some manipulating and force the markets to drop a lot and most people will lose a lot of money. Then the sharks will buy stocks cheap and start all over again.

I don't trust myself playing the markets... so I just keep away from them.

Donald Trump chooses Rick Perry to be energy secretary

"Perry has been tapped to lead an agency he has suggested should be shut down"

haha, Comrade Trump with these picks. What a joke.

"Perry has been tapped to lead an agency he has suggested should be shut down. Although when Perry ran for the 2012 GOP nomination, during a debate, he famously forgot the name one of the three agencies he had pledged to eliminate.

โ€œThe third agency of government I would -- I would do away with Education, the --Commerce...Commerce and, letโ€™s see. I canโ€™t. The third one, I canโ€™t. Sorry -- oops,โ€ he said.

Later in the debate, Perry remembered, โ€œIt was the Department of Energy that I was reaching for beforeโ€"

I guess it won't be eliminated now, since in doing so, he would eliminate his job.

"The former Texas governor sits on two corporate boards - one of them is Energy Transfer Partners - and that may present a confirmation issue. Energy Transfer Partners has a subsidiary known as Dakota Access LLC, which is attempting to build the Dakota Access Pipeline. That Dakota Access Pipeline has been the subject of public protests over its potential environmental impact and damage to Native American lands. "

Oh lookie, even more conflict of interest.

This is one Obama, Gilsan would probably like. This dude is a little off.

This is good in my opinion. Large agencies in the Fed have entrenched bureaucracies. We need to par them down and reduce their power... flush the swamp.

I would expect him to resign from those boards. He's from an energy producing state, should knows the issues, knows how to deal with bureaucrats.

Buy a few stock across diff categories and just let them sit. Over time 15% is a good return.

Afraid I can't agree. Obama's slow rise was because he has been pumping funny money into the system for years to artificially prop up the economy. That money went to the working class.

Haha... a little joke there. That money went to his super-rich pals on Wall Street and elsewhere, and they flooded the stock market with it. That helped drive prices up. I doubt Donald can keep the con game going another 4 years. It's ripe for a collapse. Best of all, they can blame the collapse on Trump.

When people talk about Obama's economy they don't mention he pumped something like 13 trillion in deficit spending.

Ah, it looks like you've explained the policies that I've missed... ;)

I say we dump the electoral college and chose our President with a fight to the death by media personalities. That way, we all win.

First up, Trevor Noah and Sean Hannity.

Laughable what people Trump took as his ministers. A fucking climate change denier as head of the climate agency... Whats next??? A PACIFIST AS CHIEF OF STAFF OF THE ARMY?

Post election, progressives are embracing conservative traditions

The president, we were told, had โ€œwon,โ€ and enjoyed a mandate to set the agenda โ€” by hook, if possible, by crook, if not. โ€œIf Congress wonโ€™t act,โ€ President Obama proved fond of saying, โ€œI will.โ€ And how happily his fans applauded.

Before Nov. 8, to complain about presidential overreach or the decline of federalism or the continuing diminishment of Congress was to be labeled an โ€œobstructionistโ€ or a โ€œnihilistโ€ or a member of the โ€œParty of No.โ€ Today, it is the soul of enlightenment.

The idea, I believe, is to put people with opposing ideas in charge. The same opposing ideas that won the election.

These agencies are huge and have grown steadily for the last 16 years and need to be downsized.

Along with a hiring freeze, a new rule that requires two old regulations be eliminated for every new one, and hopefully making it easier to fire incompetent and dishonest employees.

Women who committed fraud resulting in deaths of Veterans waiting for healthcare, was re-assigned, given a generous living allowance instead of being fired.
http://dailycaller.com/2016/02/24/failed-st-louis-va-chief-got-plush-job-free-house-in-philippines/

directors involved in a hiring-system scheme at the Department of Veterans Affairs were back on the job Monday, after a decision to reassign them was overturned by an appeals board.
http://www.military.com/daily-news/2016/02/22/2-controversial-va-directors-back-on-the-job.html

There are many examples in different agencies. Gov employees have better pay, benefits, and job protections no-one in the private sector could ever have. At the V.A. they literally get away with murder.
